Yahoo Message Number: 9380 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/9380)What's everyones opinion of Honda Toads, Have an Saturn LW-300? I am getting older it's hard for someone 6' 3" to crawl in and out of. The seat is only 18" off the pavement. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731 PS the new Vue is noisy, but it will scream with Honda's V-6.

I tow a CRV and have towed an Accord for the past year or so. Both are wired and ready to go, but we like the CRV's size and ease of entry, etc. The Accord is a bit low to the ground. I feel better with some more ground clearance when going in and out of driveways, etc. Also, it has more utility value, such as room for additional "stuff" that seems to always want to get on board and ride home, no matter where we are. The CRV manual specifically covers the procedure for towing behind motor homes. CRV curb weight is around 3250. The Vue is within a couple of hundred lbs. of the CRV.at 3450. As I recall, the Vue is not towable without modification unlike its earlier cousins made by Saturn. (I'm not an expert on that, so you may want to check it out if you get serious about the Vue.) Even though it has the Honda V6 engine, I think they still use a GM transmission. Resale on the Honda product will probably be higher than the GM unless something changes, which I doubt.
Happy "camping"

Yahoo Message Number: 9383 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/9383)We bought a new Pilot in December. Installed a Blue-Ox baseplate, US Gear Tow Brake, and Aluminator Tow bar on the coach. We have towed it for around 2500 miles and it has been flawless. The Honda has an excellent ride, good handling, and waay tooo much horsepower. I am 6' and the interior headroom is around 6". It is the only thing other than the Allure that I have driven in several years that doesn't give me back pain after a few hours of driving. I have no real complaints, and my wife will tell you how unusual that is.

Since you're tall, you'd like the headroom and legroom. It's quite rugged inside and out and can be hosed out after mudding around. It gets around 25mpg and tows just fine. I particularly like the clamshell type doors and rear skylight which allows us to transport our flyrods w/o disassembly.

Yahoo Message Number: 9385 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/9385)We have owned and towed a Honda Accord, a CRV, and now a Pilot. They all tow great! The 4 cylinder Accord got 30 mpg, the CRV 25 mpg, and the Pilot 20 mpg. The Accord seats sit low and lumbar hurt my back, the CRV sat higher but did not have a lumbar and felt better on my back but the ride is harsher. The Pilot sit higher yet but the leather seats are fantastic front and back and the ride is smooth! We are very pleased with the Pilot at this time in our lives/ailments. We did test drive the Odessy which is the same chassis/drive train as the Pilot but both of us felt the Pilot had a noticeably better ride. We have had the Pilot a year and a half; it has 27,000 miles on it and we have towed it another 10,000.

We tow an Acura MDX, cousin to the Honda Pilot. Before the MDX we had a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We got the MDX because of the smoother better ride than the Jeep. My wife can't tolerate sitting for very long, and the Jeep's ride made riding in it awful for her. The Acura rides great and tows well. Acura manual says to tow it no faster than 65 mph, and to go thru the transmission ritual after 8 hrs of towing. (You tow it with the transmission in neutral, it doesn't have a neutral transfer case shift lever position like the Jeep had, so the transmission is turning as you tow it.) However, the Jeep is more convenient for towing and many other little things like these: - no transmission ritual, just put the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in Park - rear window opens for access while rear hatch is closed, - "door ajar" is displayed on big LEDs vs. Acura's tiny vehicle symbol & tiny, dim red indicator for a door that is ajar (can't see the thing in daylight) - Acura seats are too close to the center console (or the console is too wide) "Stuff" gets down there and there's no way to retrieve it, or clean down there either. - The automatic, delayed, interior light shut down feature is defeated when a door is ajar or when you've manually turned on a light via push button. Since the P/B light switches don't indicate whether they are "on" or "off", it's a trial and error process to figure out why the lights are still on (long after you've left the vehicle -- like later that night, or worse, the next morning when the battery is run down) - The Jeep has better acceleration from its bigger, higher torque V-8 vs Acura's V-6 - Jeep gets better gas mileage, and unleaded regular is the recommended fuel, vs premium unleaded for the Acura.
I wish we still had the Jeep Paul
