I will be traveling from Houston up to the Toledo area in a few weeks. I have heard that I70 between Indianopolis & I75 is pretty bad traveling. Someone suggested state highway 40 may be a better alternative. Would appreciate any opinions from those of you who may have traveled in this areaThank-you, Fred Compton2005 Magna #6454

There are sections between Indianapolis and I75 in OH that are very rough on I70 we have had to slow way down to keep it at minimum. We have not taken route 40 thru that region but we did get off on route 35 in OH and it was a better, slower ride. You do have the typical slower speed limits as you go through towns with the stop lights added in. I will say most of the rough road is in Indiana and OH is not that bad so you could get off on exit 96 just East of the I465 loop and head South to pick up route 40. I would suggest that when you get to Centerville IN to head North on N Centerville Road and get back on Eastbound I70, this way you miss going through Richmond, IN. There is still some bad spots when you get on I70 but it would be better then going through Richmond. This route will take quite a bit longer but we like those kinds of drives when we have the time. Good luck and enjoy the trip!
