I know a lot of CCers go to Rocky Pt. Would like to know where they get their insurance. My insurance co. wants over $800 for a six day stay! The insurance co. at Ajo, AZ (right at the border) doesn't insure for more than $100,000. Would appreciate any advice - especially from the RMCC group that I know goes there a lot. Thanks.

My insurance through RV Alliance covers the coach for comp/collision in Mexico. Then, I joined Vagabundos del Mar for insurance on my car and liability. My total premium last year was $314. That included insurance for my car, $60 for driver's license policy for liability on any vehicle that I drive (car, motor home, dune buggy) and legal assistance, which provides me with an English speaking attorney in case of an accident. This policy covers me on the mainland as well as the Baja. You can purchase only one or the other, if you only plan to travel in one section. But, the cost for all of Mexico is not much more, so I took it all. I also paid $35 membership fee for Vags so I could purchase insurance through them. I have talked to an insurance agent in San Felipe and he said that he can give me better rates, so when my policy is ready for renewal in December, I will get a quote from him.
I have talked to several people that get coverage for the day they drive down and the day they drive back if their motor home policy does not provide coverage. I would not be comfortable with this. If there was any vandalism or if there was a fire or other damage, you would not have coverage.
