One by one my small peeves with CC are being taken care of i.e. layour windxhield wipers, thre water pump switches, controls on the steering wheel, etc. I still have one, however, that remains. Bot Intrigues I owned ( 97 & 00 ) and now my 03 Allure have single tone horns that really sound pretty cheap. In fact, a friend with a much cheaper Tradewinds mh told me one of my horns wasn't hooked up.
Question: Has anyone up-graded to dual tone horns? If so, did you have to buy two horns, or just change out one for a lower tone? I believe our OE horns are Hadley, so I've considered contacting them.
If I don't hear from anyone on this I'll do so and pass on what I get from Hadley.

S & L---my 97 and 00 Intrigues had wipers that would not lay out for windshield cleaning, They finally went to wipers that do.

Walt,
I have been considering the same. One of my horns works only once in a blue moon, so it will become the victim for replacement. If you have WEB access Hadley has a site with a list of distributors. The only one I found with a good selection was this: http://www.componentproductsgroup.net/catalog/index.php?action=category&id=2&subid=7&start=48 (http://www.componentproductsgroup.net/catalog/index.php?action=category&id=2&subid=7&start=48) I do not have any experience with them, just found the site interesting. Looks like they have about everything.
Good Luck!

Walt;
Yes, Walt, the poor sound quality of my monotone air horns bugs me too. I've been considering adding 2 more different length horns for a total of 4 for the big bus sound, but I don't know if the air pressure in the CC system will drive 4 horns. Converting one of the horns to a different length seems like it might require moving the mounting bracket. Be sure to post your findings on this web site.
I'd also be interested in your findings on the layout wipers. I can't believe we have such an expensive coach but the wipers won't lay down for cleaning the windshield. What a pain.
I'd like to know what you've changed on the water pump switches and controls on the steering wheel. Everything there seems to work ok.

Bob, I must not have been clear in my msg. I was bragging that I now have layout wipers wheras my 97 and 00 Intrigues did not. On those coaches I had to hold the wipers a couple of inches away from the windshield with one hand and try to clean the windshield with the other hand. Same story on the pump switches and the controls on the steering wheel. They are improvementsfinally made by CC.
Re the horns, I talked to Hadley today and ordered a 26" horn ( $99.95) to go with one of the 20" ones now installed. He said I would have to change the mounting, but that's all. I don't think it will be too big a problem. I'll post my results after installation.

Dave, I ordered a 26" horn to replace one of the existing 20" ones direct from Hadley. They quoted me $99.95 and said I would have to move the mounting. I guess this means filling a couple of holes and drilling two new ones. The guy I talked to seemed to think this settup would give me a good result. I'll post my findings as soon as I receive and install the new horn.

Lyle, my 03 Allure came equipped with the layout wipers which I found to be a big improvement----It sounds from you like they have reverted to the old ones that won't lay out. Go figure?

Walt,
My 03 Allure (build date Nov 02) does not have lay-out wipers, you have to hold them out. Also, as another (I think Lyle) posted, they are very poor at working in any wind. I would like to know if arm assemblies from any higher models would fit, and do a better job.

When I was at the factory last summer I asked about the windshield wipers.
They indicated that there was nothing they could do about them. Just depends on which model we have, and I have the same as you. Sure makes it tough for one person to clean the windshield!

Bill, my coach was built in Feb. 02 ( I'm guessing since I bought it in March ) which was prior to the First Avenue models. Since mine was probably what they call a " transition " coach I probably have some features of an 02 and some of an 03. For the life of me, though, I don't know why they would revert to the old type wipers about which everyone complained unless there is a cost advantage to CC.

Did YOU replace the wipers or did CC? What ordering info can you share?
My new 2004 Allure 36' has non-layout wipers that are a real pain the backside... making window cleaning a chore.

Joe, my coach came equipped with layout wipers. I agree the others are a big fat pain. Looks like I have innocently stirred something up by bragging on CC for doing something they have already discontinued. It looks like only the very early 03 Allures came with the layout type wipers. I don't know when they started using them, but my early 2000 Intrigue had the non-layout type.

Bill, Walt:
My wipers are not the layout type either; however, they do fine job of keeping the windshield clear. They don't do the best job when using the washer or in very light rain, they are best when you really need them.
As for as air horns go, I have two Hadleys which came with the coach. They are plenty loud, even earned my getting the finger from a guy speeding down the freeway on ramp and not looking at the 18 tons doing 60 mph that would have not been able to stop or change lanes in time. The horns got his attention!

Air horns have to be used judiciously, as evidenced by an experience we had.
A car passed our Intrigue and cut in front us sharply, reducing our following distance to zilch. I blasted the air horns as it occurred, resulting in the SOB jamming on his brakes in front of us! Fortunately I reacted quickly and didn't hit him. And I somehow controlled my temper.
