We are Gene and Marianne Sword. We will be retiring in June of 2007 and going fulltime. In the meantime, we are looking for our first Country Coach. We have decided on a 2000 Intrigue 36' without slides. That will get us into more camp sites. We just started looking recently. We are really excited to get our coach and start using it on weekends and vacations. That way we will be prepared to go fulltiming. From the few messages we have read, we think this will be a great site to monitor for usefull information. We are realllllllll novices. We ordered the RV Consumers information on ratings and that helped us make our decision on a Country Coach!!!! We did see that Country Coach went to the IFS during the 2000 year. It would be nice to know the number when they changed. Thanks for letting us share your site as non owners....Yet! That's all for now.

Hi Gene and Marianne

Welcome to the group. If the current coach you're working towards doesn't work out, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are selling our fabulous 2002 Intrigue 36' with two slides, and would love to present it to you.

Gene and Marianne, I owned a very early 2000 Intrigue ( I bought it in July of 1999) and it had IFS. I do caution you, however, to look for size 12 tires which came later in the model year. CC had a great deal of difficulty with the " low-profile" tires used on the 2000 I owned. Also, make sure all re-calls have been done before purchasing a 2000. There were some important ones covering ride-height valves.

Good luck. I know you'll be happy with a CC.

Hi and welcome. I have a 36 foot Allure with great room slide. The length is the limiting factor, I've never had a problem in ANY campground with the slide. CC doesn't slide the under compartments. A bit inconvenient for access when the slide is out but makes it so the slide will clear the tall plumbing/electrical found in many older campgrounds.

Don't buy a non-slide coach unless it is HEAVILY discounted. They are extremely hard to resell as few buyers want them. I took a major financial licking on the non-slide coach I sold to get my CC.
The great room slide adds a whole new dimension in comfort and space, particularly if you are spending long stretches of time in the coach.

You picked the right board to come to. This group knows everything there is to know about CC and how to repair or improve them. It has been absolutely invaluable to us.

FWIW.

Actually you needn't worry about whether the recall work has been done - having it done yourself is no problem. After I bought my coach I contacted CC and they couldn't have been more helpful. Their records did not indicate that the work was completed - only that the parts had been shipped to the previous owner. They offered to set up an appointment at their expense at the dealer of my choosing to have an inspection and/or work performed.

One other observation regarding slides... we have the single Great Room slide and find that with this model on those rare occasions we are unable to extend it, the coach is no different than a non-slide model. I'm sure it is different with a bedroom slide.

Hurry up and join us all! This fulltime RV lifestyle is awesome! The people you meet are great, the places you go are tremendous...

Now, re: your choice...I echo the caution to really get a 2000 HEAVILY discounted with no slides. We tried to sell my parents' CC with no slide and found it VERY difficult. As someone else said, the length is the delimiting factor, not the width. Also, we've never had any problem keeping the slides in on those few occasions that we must overnight with them in (never due to campgrounds...mostly weather or the CC "campground" where we were too tight with our neighbor.)

Also, the IFS makes a big difference in the ride...so drive a 2001 if you can also to compare. Driving is what it's all about.

We've been very happy with our CC and this fulltime lifestyle...you're making a good choice.

Gene and Marianne,

I am writing on behalf of an acquatance who has a 36 foot Intrigue non-slide. They are not memebers of the Country Coach Owners site and asked me to send their phone numbers to you.
They are Billy and Roberta Barton. They can be reached at one of the following numbers:
406-270-2216
352-895-3859
352-207-8644.

I do not know Bill or Roberta well, they just came by to look at our coach. When they mentioned they had a 36 Intrigue non slide, I remembered your post on the CC site.
Good luck in your search. As an owner of a 1999 Intrigue since it was new, we absolutely swear by the CC product. In fact we have just ordered a 42' Ovation triple slide Intrigue.
Good luck in your quest to find your first Country Coach.
Sincerely,
John Kearsing

This post is not part of an organized sales effort, but I felt that the recent posting by John Kearsing was worth a follow-up comment. We know the Kearsings well and have always admired their current coach and the way it has been kept up. In my opinion, anyone looking for an exceptional ' 99 Intrigue ( 40' ) would be well advised to contact John.
