After a few hundred miles we noticed a vibration when shifting that sounded like metal on metal. It continued to get worse and at 5,000 miles a dealer identified the problem as an aircondition hose touching metal. It was corrected with no further problems. I don't know if it would have eventually caused a fire as some have reported, but might be worth looking into if you have a CRV with a similar problem.

The 20+ fires occurred in the redesigned '03/'04 CRVs and result from, (1) failure to remove all of the old oil filter gasket; (2) failure to lubricate the new filter gasket; or, (3) failure to tighten the new oil filter properly. The problem does not exist in the '02 and older CRVs. Honda doesn't plan to recall the '03/'04 CRVs for this potential problem.
