Brian,
Our Intrigue doesn't have any glass in the screen door. Where is it on yours?

Brian,
Have you considered polycarbonate (lexan) or acrylic (plexiglas) sheet? Much safer than glass and easier to cut shapes such as a hole. Acrylic will yellow over time with sun exposure, polycarbonate will not.
Available at Home Depot.

The upper panel of the screen door obtructs the pasengers view on our inspire and i was wondering if anyone has seen a removable or retractable panel? Does looking through the screen bother any other co-pilots?

Hi Rod, Our 10 year old Intrigue had a similar complaint. The screen was typical household quality and we replaced the upper portion with high quality clear sun room vinyl. Just pulled the splines and rolled in the new panel. Day and night vision were greatly improved and no noticeable difference in air flow with screen still in the bottom. Skip 2002 Intrigue #11329

Hi Rod,
Trying visiting a screen shop and looking at different fabric colors.
There is definitely a difference. And this may help. Your co-pilot will need to be there too.

I took out the top screen and replaced it with a Phantom Screen.

When we are underway, we retract it. Works great!

Jay,
I have been considering the same solution. I assume they mounted the coil case on the screen door header with the tracks on the jambs. What is the case dimensions and weight? My only concern is that the screen frame on my 98 Allure may not support the extra weight at the header as the aluminum extrusion is light weight.
What was total cost?

On my 09 Magna, the front of the entry door angles back , near the top , to meet the slope windshield angle. It would seem difficult , if not impossible, to use a Phantom Screen door, due to the bend. Has anyone , with other than a rectangular door used a phantom screen? A friend has one on a new Winnebago Via , and it is a great idea, but his door is rectangular

Skip,
I would like the info of what and where you purchased the clear sun room vinyl. My wife complains about it every time we move the coach. I have the same complaint as Rod

Hi Jock, In Florida this material is common. I think it would be available other parts of the country. We purchased ours from a screen repair shop that makes up new and replacement house window screens. My also be available from hardware or home centers. I was able to roll in the existing splines with a common $2 roller an it stretched the vinyl nice and tight.... Skip

It's been a few years, but I seem to recall the screen was about $125 installed. Obviously, it was a custom job.
The weight is not significant - - I could not tell the difference after it was installed - - and it hasn't stressed the frame of my Atwood screen door.
If you proceed with this project, ask the installer to put magnets at the bottom of the screen. I discovered that the screen would retract (in a real hurry) if you slammed the door. The magnets hold the catches in place.

Hello Jay
If you have pictures of your installation, that would be nice to post.
