Well, just lookin' at the news and it looks like almost a direct hit on New Orleans from Ivan. Officials say the city will likely be under 15-20' of water/sewage/oil polution and restoration could take many weeks. Can't imagine CC going forth with the Oct. 12 Rally there, but haven't heard from them as yet. Really bad. I'm leaving tomorrow for a slow touring trip which was to end up there from Portland, OR. I wonder if they have contingency plans to move these events?

The news I saw this morning said that the storm would probaly go east but gave the example only if it was a direct hit on New Orleans. We should know by tomorrow night exactly what the situation will be. there is nearly a month before the rally.

There are still openings for the CC Delta Sierra Rally in Kerrville, TX from Oct. 4-8. You may call me at 775-742-4627 for more info.

Glen,

I don't think they will get back till the storm hits and they can tell the damage. There is a good chance the rally will go off as planned. Hurricanes do not take out everything. We live in a motorcoach house which took a direct hit from Charley and Francis and our entire community is in great shape. Houses and garages were built to the new code to take a 125 mph wind. So we have nothing to claim for the insurance company. You pay a price to live in paradice and hurricanes are one of the prices. The only damage we had in our community came from the oak trees and when we built our home I said I did not want a lot on the water or with regular trees. Just palms which survive very well. We have so much faith in our garage that we came back for Francis but we could not get back thru the Panhandle in time for the storm. So a friend from a house without a garage used our garage for his Blue Bird. You could have held a rally here two days after the storm so don't count New Orleans out yet. They are a tough city.
