New members Eric & Terry Hello,
We bought a 2005 Inspire Genoa. River Glen exterior, oak interior. We are happy with our choice, design & most of operation.
CC is making coaches fast as can. Inspire assembly & paint are suffering. Maybe not for other lines? We ordered coach mid May, accepted coach 20 August, stayed in Junction City for repairs till Labor Day weekend. CC seemed not willing to complete repairs, not in the weeks we had available. CC did fix the floor tiles, some of the paint, some of the cabinets & a bad window. We must get the entertainment center fixed before it falls on Terry's head. Screen door rattle still strong after 4200 miles.
Cat changed program to allow cruise control above 14 M/H, much better for use in slow traffic zones. Also, Cat changed Pac brake to get 4th pre-select with cruise on. Now Pac brake is effective without cruise cancel. Another setting lets C9 engine work down to 1100 R/M. Very pleased with quiet cooling fan.
Open throttle, wait 1 to 14 seconds, power begins. Even at 50 M/H, power can be delayed over 10 seconds. Cat tested C9, said problem is Allison. CC says Allison problem is known to CC. Why did CC not fix before delivery? Allison dealers want me to wait 2 to 4 days for service. Allison "data link rate derate" seems to be part of problem. Any comments? Has anyone found a source of dash covers for Inspire? We live to serve 3 Siamese cats. Not full time.
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas & Arkansas are on our list. Tennessee thru North Carolina are next month. Florida in December?

Eric & Terry,
Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find friendly & helpful people to assist you with any issues you have with your coach.
While we like our CC & at this point would buy another it is not good to hear real owners' account of their coach's condition at time of delivery. The Inspire is the only CC coach built on an assembly line setup. A company's reputation is always built on their lowest cost product not the most expensive. CC needs to reevaluate their QC.
Again welcome & jmho

Eric, what you failed to mention is that you were wanting options that are only available on the Magnas and the Affinities (like side cameras and top awnings). You also failed to mention that you hired a Monaco employee to nitpick your coach and ask that rediculous things be repaired like a staple in a cabinet, etc. You need to be fair to CC, they worked on fixing important things. You also said CC had to rush cause you had to get finnished to go back to work!?!? Whats up with that?
Yahoo Message Number: 11835 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/11835)
True, I bought cameras to install & might yet change to roof mounted awnings. If he is employed by Monaco, it must be a second job, not known to me. I primarily work spring & fall.

Welcome, Eric and Terry. We met at the Service Center. Still no WiFi. LOL
One issue that is important, Eric, is that when you took delivery of your coach, CC Service staff did repair the important stuff that you listed. Now that you have had a chance to drive it a few miles, you probably have a list...starting with the rattling screen door. This is the time to call CC Service and make an appointment to have those issues addressed. Make that appointment for a date that coincides with a down time in your work so that you have enough time for at least some of the repairs to be completed..ordering parts, etc. takes time. Plan on returning if the work can't be completed in the time that you can set aside for the visit. IMO, that is the reasonable approach.
Several months ago, I made an appointment for service for August 30- after the Class Reunion and other rallies. When I was traveling during subsequent months, I was in constant contact with David Sheffler by email...David does the scheduling for appointments.
Each time I encountered something I felt needed to be addressed, that I couldn't fix with help from the technical help guys, I sent him an email and added it to my list. That way there was a record at CC and I had a record. There have been small things that I've fixed myself. These coaches are built by human beings who just might put a staple in crooked..I can pull out a staple and replace it if necessary (and other minor repairs are not beyond me, either.) The lists that I sent to David were transferred to the forms that CC uses and when I arrived, the team was ready to tackle the problems I listed. Some of them, to my chagrin, have been operator error. LOL
Since I arrived at the Service Center, the team assigned to my coach has worked dilligently to repair EVERYTHING that I complained about.
They have treated me just as nicely as they treat the owners of the Affinity and the Magna parked next to me. Country Coach employees do this because it is their hope that, comes the time to replace the Inspire, I might just move up to an Allure or Intrigue or even higher in the line. The Inspire is, after all, the entry level coach in the CC line.
I think I've made my experience at the Service Center a more positive experience because I endeavor to treat the staff members with the same respect I hope to be accorded. That treatment is returned ten times over each day.
Eric and Terry...I wish you well in your travels and hope that you are happy with your purchase. I certainly am...though that Allure 430 with the tag axel sure looks good...over 10,000 pounds CCC..hmmmmmm....8-)
Just go with the flow....

Eric,
While we were at the factory picking up our new Magna we met several people that had new Inspires who thought that CC should doing more for them then they were doing. They also thought that they should be getting some of the things that were on Magnas. But Inspire owners need to understand that they are not paying for a CC Magna so they are not going to get it. The Inspire is an entry level coach for CC and as such you can't even be a member of the Crown Club at Lazy Days with an Inspire. It is not considered a high end coach. It's a nice coach but it's not what I would call a CC.

Hmmmm...just took a walk around my Inspire...says Country Coach in the front and Country Coach in the back. Documents say Country Coach. Took a tour of the factory where they build it...Country Coach. Asked a neighbor - yep, its a Country Coach. My guess? Its a Country Coach.
The CCI people who are at rallies are the same Country Coach employees who do the repairs at the factory. They do a good job and one great thing is that they have immediate access to the engineers and other staff who put the thing together, which is a good thing, not a bad thing.
I recommend them to anyone who has problems with their Country Coach motorhome, Inspire to Prevost.

So then, Bill, before the Inspire came out, Allure was entry level etc- Intrigue and etc. Magna right. So when the Magna came in as an entry level, you wouldnot call it a CC? I have a '99 Allure and it is a CC and a high end coach, the bill proves it. It may not have cost as much as your Magna but then again it did not cost as much as an Affinity or the Prevost conversions then your Magna is nice but not a CC?????????? Sorry but not all of us can afford the upper crust but we do drive Counrty Coaches and I have driven one since 1987. Yes, my Allure is a Counrty Coach, did not cost as much as your Magna but maybe my priorities are in different places. They sure are not in the place of telling someone whos has spent quite a chunck of money on a CC , that it is not a Country Coach.
''99 Allure #30321 yes, it is a Counrty Coach. I know because CC did warranty work on it.
'02 Tahoe, No it is not a Caddy Escalade but it gets me there and I have money left over.

To all,
First, thanks to all for the informative posts. I've been a lurker on this list for some time, and have been doing research on CC. We currently do not own a CC, but one is in our near future. Most likely a pre-owned coach somewhere around 2000-2002.
This thread is the first I've seen regarding the ranking of the various coach models. As a potential CC purchaser, this leads be to ask the following: What is the ranking of the different models of CC, starting at the entry level coaches and going up? Thanks in advance,

Bill G.,
We bought an Inspire, not another model. We know what is standard & what is optional.
What is not acceptable is storage doors a half inch lower than other doors, 10 clearance lamps wet & one corroded to failure, whaite front cap fiberglass showing thru paint, VCR, DVD & switch box trying to fall out of cabinet as we travel.
Should we have bought a Magna to avoid these options? Allure You may not call it a CC, but the emblems on ends are not Continental Can Company.

Eric,
I think it is a shame that this thread has come to this....we are all in a CC family, no matter what model we own. IMHO, somehow when people start complaining, then other people react in different ways. You, Eric had a substantial list (after nitpicking from the guy you hired) it was 300+ item (staples etc included). BUT to be fair to CC, they did fix ALL of your items before you left....isn't that correct?
We own an 05 Affinity and believe me, your problems are not unique to your coach or to the Inspire line. We have had our problems as well. I have not and will not air all of these issues to the world, if asked by another owner about specific things I will discuss the items and share our experience. But to write on the board or sit in the CC customer service lounge and complain about every little detail doesn't do anyone any good. Not you, or another Inspire owner as their problems could be completely different than yours.
A CC is a CC no matter where it falls in the line-up. People own different models for different reasons based on variables in the lives. An Inspire owner is no different from a Prevost owner.....maybe one has more money that the other......and then again, maybe not! It all depends on each and every person's priorities in life. The Inspire may choose pay cash and the Magna or Affinity owner may have a substantial loan against his coach.......and maybe not,......maybe it is the other way around. The long and the short of it is......we ALL own a Country Coach, we are ALL a family of sorts and we should just be nice and all try to get along and help each other out. At this time the coaches offered by CC are:
Inspire, Allure, Intrigue, Magna, Affinity and Prevost. One can special order a Lexa with the right amount of cash on hand.
The Inspire is a new model and has been on the market for a little over a year with many changes between the '04 and '05.
And no matter what anyone says, the Insprire is a Country Coach. 8-)

Carol,
Sorry if I offended any Inspire owners but some of them that I have met have been complaining that their coachs are not up to CC standards. Well one year ago you could not buy a CC for that price so what makes you think you can today. There is nothing wrong with the Inspire except that the buyers have other expections which are not there. If they wanted a Magna they should be willing to have my $3000 per month payment. We started with a 1993 Southwind but I did not complain that it was not a Pace Arrow but then again I did not buy a Pace Arrow which was in the same family but $10,000 more. And now 12 years and 5 coaches later I think my Magna is a safer and better built coach then the Inspire or Allure. If not then why spend the extra money.

Eric,
When you have those problems you go back to your dealer and get them corrected. These coaches are made by humans and they all make errors. Our new Magna went thru 2 weeks in JC getting things corrected and we are still doing that. Coming cross country to home and 2 hurricanes our 32 " tv came loose 3 times so I took it in to Lazy Days and they pulled it out to find whoever put the bolts in to the wood frame missed half the wood so they welded an extra piece of steel onto the TV supports and remounted the TV. Does that make my coach a bad coach? I don't think so. It just means that someone screwed up.
This week after I clean up the mess at my house, front bedroom got flooded from the hurricane, I will take the coach over to Lazy Days for a Warranty correction to the engine, have some 5000 mile maintenance done and correct several other warrenty items. Then I'll return home and get some hurricane related items fixed on the house. Does that make Florida a bad place to live? Still would not trade florida for the West coast or factory service.

Bill,
The reason many Inspire owners complain are the "Q C" words...Quality Control. Country Coach advertises that they put out a quality product and they do not differentiate between the Insprire and the Affinity when it comes to that word. There were many mistakes made in the building of my coach. All of those mistakes have been corrected because Country Coach stands behind their product. So I don't complain much any more. 8-)
I don't expect to have all the "stuff" you have for your double-my- payment Magna, but I did and do expect the quality to be Country Coach. Otherwise, why put the name on it? Why not call it a ....
Monaco??
My message was, and remains, what I drive is a Country Coach product and they stand behind their product. I'm not demanding Magna stuff, just Country Coach quality stuff in my Inspire.
Just as you have done, I'm working my way up from the Terry Trailer I started camping in...whoops..started in a tent.
Your coach is probably safer...it sure is fancier...than my Inspire and the Allure is probably safer and fancier than my Inspire, also.
That's the reason for the higher price tag and higher insurance premiums. But I am still driving a Country Coach and don't try to tell me I ain't! 8-)

If you want problems just go get a Fleetwood product - I was so fed up I bought a mega phone to sit in front of a dealer to sing a song I wrote about how bad the product was - Even threatened to paint the coach yellow and write "LEMON" on it -
Was nervous about the Inspire since it was the first model year - #38 off the line - but it had more space and headroom than the other models at the time and it was equipped the way we wanted it (I.e. we did not want the aqua hot) - we had made up our mind to get either a new Country Coach or a Foretravel - but we were leaning more to the Country Coach - the Inspire just fit our needs - the care that Country Coach has given us is remarkable - no complaints here - sure we have had a few minor problems but CC has taken care of them. Just yesterday driving up 395 to Reno we talked about what a relief it was not to worry about something going wrong with the coach and it has been a year and 20k miles now with the Inspire. We are almost over our anxiety of our prior experiences - so if someone gets their kicks from complaining about a product and service just get a Fleetwood product -

Eric,
The Inspire is a Country Coach, but the design and engineering is only one year old and it is build in a different plant then other CCs. At one time when we purchased our first CC we thought the same people that worked on Prevosts would work on our Intrigue. Not the case. There are different plants for the Inspire, the Allure/Intrigue, the Mag/Affinity and the Provest. Just like at GM, when you buy a Chevy you don't get a Caddy.
I live in a community of 50 motorhomes from Prevost to Newels to Winny. We even have a few class Cs. None are trouble free and all of them have quality control problems. The only way to avoid this is to buy the simplest coach with nothing special. But we don't want that so we pay the price and deal with the problems. Each time we trade I wonder why we take a chance and start the problems all over again. But we do because we want the newest and the latest. Besides what else do we have to do but hang around at Lazy Days Crown Club, get away from home and have a few free drinks at the bar. With RVing you do not save money it is a life style decision. Again if I offended you, I apologize. I'm just trying to protect our investment.

Candace,
In this industry some of the trade value and resale value is based on the value of the brand. Certain brands are harder to sell then other brands because of their reputation for problems and service. This is a very close industry and when people complain the word gets around. Back in 1999 we owned a 96 Safari which was a great coach but we traded to a CC because Safari was beginning to have problems and the 98s and 99 were awful. I was president of Safari East, a FMCA chapter of 200 Safari owners and all I heard was bitching, some of it justified and some of it not. We loved the Safari Club, they had great parties, some of the best in the industry but when we decided to trade we went to a CCI rally (just for the day) walked around and asked everyone we saw what they thought of CC. That's when we decided CCI was for us. That was before CC ever thought about building chaises for some National models or entry level coaches. At some of the 2002 rallies we had people coming in with National coaches saying they had CCs when all they had was a light weight CC chaise. About a year later that program was abandon in favor of building an entire new CC called the Inspire. The Inspire was also after another try at an entry level coach called, and I can't remember the name, sorry. That coach did not go over well either. This is CCs third attempt to get into a lower price line and the first year is always the worst for any brand not only CC.
So all I'm trying to say is that the value of your coach for resale is also based on what people think of the brand. Just tell somebody you drive a CC and see their eyes light up. When we picked up our new 2005 Magna we were bitching at the rally about some of the quality control problems and some of my old line CC friends did not want to hear that. So I eventually just told the factory people.
To this day the Safari line and several other brands are harder to sell. Our old Magna was only at Lazy Days about 45 days and it sold for more then many new or used high end coaches on the lot. There must be some reason for that. Sure we did not get all our money back, but we got our monies worth in the pleasure of driving a CC and our CC friends.and staff. You can't take it with you, and if my kids get any money when I'm gone, I miscaluated. Just kidding guys! Hope my kids don't see this.
Take care

It is messages from owners like you that make me fully understand that no matter what coach you buy, you will have x number of problems. Our coach is a single galley slide and we love it.
This board is a good example of people helping each other and sharing information. I have been a member of this board for a few years and I have never seen the likes of this thread! We all should just be thankful that we are able to own a luxury item like a CC. Sincerely Candace Hollick vote.yahoo.com - Register online to vote today! Yahoo! My husband and I are Bob and Sandra Peterson. We purchased a 40 ft. Magna 2000 (Coach 5892) from the original owner and have had our share of problems and I have at times been concerned if we had done the right thing. It is messages from owners like you that make me fully understand that no matter what coach you buy, you will have x number of problems. Our coach is a single galley slide and we love it. Are planning to travel out west this year. Hope to meet you somewhere along the way. We live in Largo, Florida - where are you located.

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. We have the same last name, the same coach model and year. We are currently located in S.CA and just completed a 4 month 37 state tour.

Hi Bob and Sandra, Welcome to the CC family. I am sure that you are enjoying your Magna...do you do a lot of traveling? You might look to see where there is a CC Rally that you can attend, if you haven't done that already. You can go to www.countrycoach.com (http://www.countrycoach.com) and sign up to join Country Coach International known as CCI. We live in Southern California but we seem to travel quite a bit, so maybe we will meet up somewhere.
