Hello All!

Don't yet own a CC, but hope to soon. Hope this fact doesn't disqualify me from your group. Researching info before purchase, figured owners would give the most factual answers. Will probably lurk unless a specific question comes up.

Was convinced that CC should be on our short list by RV Consumer Group's high rating. Never yet been inside one, but have admired their FINE appearance. Have checked out 100's of pics & floorplans on various sites. Hope to get down to Tampa to LazyDays RV to look them over shortly.

Others on our short list are Dutch Star, Mountainaire, Alpine Coach, and AllegroBus. I know none of these are quite up there with CC, but would like to hear from those who have had experience with both CC and one or more of the others. It will be the difference between a used CC and a new one of the others, probably.

One of my hesitations with CC (also with Alpine) is that our homebase is FL and I would prefer to get warranty and service work at the factory or chassis builder. Oregon is a little trip for us. Also, i've heard a few musings that things aren't as great with CC since National took over. Anyone care to give a little feedback on these issues?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Blessings,
Lois

Lois, first of all the Nat'l RV " takeover" is old history, having taken place in '96 or '97, I forget which. NRV is a holding company with two operating subsidiaries--National and CC. Most of us really don't remember any major changes in the operation of CC since the merger. I say "merger" because Bob Lee, the founder of CC became the largest single stockholder in NRV and I believe still wields strong influence.
Since moving up to a highline coach I have only owned CC's, three of them. There were times with my second one that I seriously considered filling a lemon law suit, but the CC people always came through for me. I subsequently bought another CC and am very happy with it. I have looked very carefully at the other mfg's products and they all come up short when comparing with CC. The only possible exception is Foretravel which is a very fine and very over-priced coach.
All highline coaches have alot to offer, but I am personally sold on CC. They are certainly not perfect, but I think they're the best.

Walt,

Thanks for your response. Certainly puts the NRV concern to rest.
And input from a 3X owner with honest feedback about problems has to be considered a highly reliable source.

Would really appreciate it if you and others could expound on likelihood of getting warranty work and other service in an efficient manor in Florida or at least the SE US.

Would still appreciate any comments from anyone as to my original post.

Thanks,
Lois

Sorry, Lois, I can't help you re warranty work. I'm 200 miles from Buddy Gregg--Dallas and have made the trip many times. I've heard mixed reports on Lazy Days in Tampa, but there ought to be plenty of experienced Floridians on this board.

Good Luck,

Lois, I, too, am a real CC person. My parents had one for 8 years and loved it and convinced us to get one too. We've never regretted it. Re: getting service in FL, I've now heard very good things about Lazy Days and their service of CC's. Of course you hear plusses and minuses here and there about everything, but I don't think I'd hesitate to get a CC with Lazy Days nearby. You'd have the same problem with any motorhome re: getting service, so you need to buy the best rig you can and just learn to deal with any problems if and when they arise. Good luck!

Lois,

We live in florida in Lake Wales and we would never go back to the factory for repairs to our Country Coach. This summer we picked up our new Magna at the factory in JC. Took two weeks to get 2 days of work done. The factory people are installers and builders not repair people. They know the equipment but they don't have time to fix it. Find a good dealer in florida, there are plenty of them in the Tampa area with tecks from the factories of the manufacturers. Let the people on the west coast suffer with the factories.

Lois, I beg to differ with Bill re repairs at the factory. My one and only experience there was first class and it's my understanding that all the techs are FORMER line workers who now spend all their time on service--not share it with the line. If I'm mistaken I'm sure someone will correct me, but I was impressed with the service I got on a chronic problem the dealer could not correct. Anyway, good luck with your new rig.

Walt,

I think the factory does a great job on CC stuff, it's the vendor items they do not handle well, like ACs , frigs, generators, doors etc. The rubber seal on my door was redone 3 times at the factory for air leaks and at the New Orleans rally they fixed it in one try. At the factory my Total Coach gauges were worked on 3 times and we still showed LP on our all electric coach and the gray tank did not register. The coach is now at Lazy Days getting the gauges corrected and I'm enjoying the Crown Club. If I had a serious CC problem and lived on the West Coast I would go there to but not for some of the things I hear on this site. I'd much rather eat and drink at Lazy Days while the coach is being worked on, there is no food or Booze at the factory.
