We've had this occur a couple of times in our Magna. The detector seems to be the same type and brand as one we had in our Intrigue so perhaps it is like yours.

CCI Controls, Model 7719, Gas Leak Detector - made by CCI Controls, 5052 Cecelia Street, South Gate CA 90280-3511, 800.521.5228, 213.560.6060.
If yours is the same, there is no internal battery. We called them about constant chirping in absence of any LP leak (besides chirping it should also have automatically shut of the LP.
Each time we had higher than normal humidity and each time we were hooked up to shore power. They had us make sure our batteries were fully charged. We turned off the detector, disconnected shore power, then turned on the detector, which will do some chirping as it self-checks before resetting. Once this was done we waited several minutes and turned shore power back on. No problem after that.
The detector will false on other fumes - perfumes, cleaning agents etc.

Walt:

CCI Controls has a web site that contains an email address and a telephone number, they are located in California. Of course I am assuming you have the same make as I do.
