I just returned from the local Cummins dealer where I had the left rear air bag replaced. A hole had been punctured in it. How did this happen? The CC dealer that performed my factory recall "Ride Height Control Valve Reconfiguration" installed the brackets for the two rear control valve rods too close to the airbags and the bolt that held the vertical rod to the bracket stuck out far enough to rub against the airbag and eventually wore a hole in it. The reconfiguration was done in February, 2001, so it took approximately five months of driving and wear to wear all the way through the air bag material. I have informed the factory service department that this happened and that they may see other occurences of the same.
