Title: Gen Start/Stop Problem

I'm in the process of relocating the two front electrical panels in my 2001 All-Electric Affinity to the cabinet area previously occupied by my 20" TV. I'm going to install a flat panel LCD TV above the windshield where the two control panels were located. The relocated electrical panels contain my 2 Link controllers, water tank switches, air purge switch, auto Gen. start controller and generator start/stop and Gen. gauges, etc.
I made some extension cables for a few of the switches (not the generator) and reconnected everything. Everything seems to work properly but I have one problem that I'm aware of now. I can start the generator manually OK, but when I depress the same switch to the down (off) position, nothing happens, the generator continues to run. I hit the down position of the switch in the bedroom and still nothing happens. I have to go outside to the generator to stop it. I have not yet test the auto Gen. start, but all the control lights seem to be working OK.
Does that start or more importantly Stop wire have an inline fuse or other connection that I should be looking at?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Danny: I don't know how far you are into your project, but I just completed a major surgery project of installing a 37" LCD. It replaced a25"LCD that I installed a couple of years ago.
In the photo section of this forum, I have some snap shots of the template and bracket I made, plus some shots of the project as it nears completion. The 37" requires a host of changes but has some distinct advantages over the smaller ones.
You can see how much farther back the new TV mounts on the template photo. Notice the headliner indentations from the factory TV.

Denny,

Although I didn't mess with any of the wires, I had a similar problem with my genset! Seems one of the connections on the generator itself had worked its way loose causing the same problem. I was told that there is a 3 wire connection on the back top right, portion of the generator as you look at it. One of the connections could have come loose? To be honest, by the time I actually got down to look at it, the problem fixed itself, however! Hope this helps and its not something in the wires you worked on? Hadn't had a problem since!

Denny,

I see your generator remote stop problem has not been fully answered, yet.....so I'll give you my experience. There is a three wire plug in at the generator that comes from this switch. The pin that serves the stop (and preheat) function on mine had corroded to the point that it broke off. I just tugged on the wires one at a time and discovered the broken one. I bought a new 3-pin connector at radio shack, matched the old wires to the right pin locations and soldered the wires to the pins. Snapped the connector back together and the problem was solved. Mine was located at the right rear of the generator, but yours may be different due to genset positioning pertaining to model and year of coach.

Hope this helps,
