A person wrote asking for EGT gage information a few days ago. After some web searching, I resorted to a visit to the local NAPA store. NAPA gage part numbers are 301-1086, 301-1094 for gauge with thermocouple & 8' of thermocouple cable. Thermocouple extension cable, particular to the type of thermocouple used, will be needed to complete the installation. My Inspire has a number of bungs welded to intake system for thermocouple installation. Perhaps the exhaust system has provisions for thermocouples also.

Hi Folks,
In a '53 Kenworth I recently saw a EGT gauge. I suspect its use is for lowering the exhaust temperature during climbs I guess by raising the rpms. Also, it may be used to determine when the turbo is cool enough to shut off the engine.

JH,
Exhaust bungs and intake bungs could be used with one guage & multiple sensors. On large diesels, we use up to 24 thermocouples, a selector switch & one gauge.
