I have a TracStar, in motion (SV360) installed and I will be parked where it will not be able to lock on a Satellite (Direct TV).

My question is: how do i hook up an external antenna?

Terry,

Are you wanting to hook up to a portable dish or to the campground cable?

Thanks,

David

David,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am trying to hook a portable dish, but I can't figure out how to bypass the TracStar dome and get to my Direct TV receiver.

Terry,

Could you just run the coax from the portable dish to the back of your Direct TV receiver where your TracStar is currently connect to? Of course, you would have to run the coax through an open window or door.
Otherwise, you would have to open up the dome, remove the coax going to it from the receiver, and connect the two cables together with a coax connector.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

David

Terry, if you have the cable, run it from the portable dish to the back in the DirecTV receiver ( through a window?) into it's satellite in connect.

--- In Country-Coach-Owners@yahoogroups.com (Country-Coach-Owners@yahoogroups.com), Terry, you can get a diplexer/combiner from a good electronics shop, hook the out lead to the sat receiver in, hook the dome to one side of the in on the diplexer, hook the other side to your coax from your portable dish, then you are set to go when the trees get in the way.

Terry, you can also get two diplexors, and put one on the outside cable input, and the other on the inside cable connection. Then with a A/B switch going to the Satellite receiver, B could be the Below dish, and A the Tracstar. The diplexor, if power passive on one side, and cable can use the other side. This will alow cable and satellite to be run thru one cable at the same time, and you will not have to run cable thru the window etc. These diplexors can be purchased at Radio Shack, and also the A/B switch. They are real prowd of the diplexors, about 23 bucks each, and the a/b swithc is about 16. Call me if you need any explanation of this hook up, I will be glad to help you

Terry, I used to carry a dish on a tripod and about 50 ft. of coax. I simply connected it to the cable connection and it worked like a charm.
