We are visiting a dealer in the morning to move forward with a Magna 2000. It does not have Silverleaf--how important is it---and can it be added later---and at what expense ? Thank You in advance

Silverleaf will sell you the cable and provide the sofware for your laptop, or maybe other devices. The software is free from their website. The price of the cable in 2005 was a little steep IMO but the system is a must-have as far as I'm concerned. They provide good technical support.

Silverleaf is a nice addition... but pretty darn expensive to add. The Scangauge D is much much cheaper and they also have excellent support... you can buy it form many local retailers... visit http://www.scangauge.com/ (http://www.scangauge.com/) for more info. I put it in my Country Coach Inspire and was quite happy with it for the hundred bucks or so it cost me Joseph Burkle

I have the VMSpc USB JIB that attaches to the engine diagnostic plug under the dash and run VMSpc on my Surface Pro tablet. I have it setup to read boost pressure and manifold temperature. What ever your engine sends down the data buss is what you can display. Silverleaf now has a blue tooth JIB that I would get if I didn't have the USB box.

Chris,
We also have a 2000 Magna (5854) that came equipped with the Silverleaf. I find it invaluable. The reason is the dash gauges are very inaccurate. An example is the oil pressure gauge. When I purchased the motorhome the oil pressure, at the gauge, would read zero at idle. I had it replaced by the dealer and it improved somewhat, but the Silverleaf reflected the actual pressure, which was much higher. My Silverleaf is mounted in the dash in the right hand module when sitting in the driver's seat. I don't know if they sell this particular model any more but I would contact them to see what they have available. It provides ~ 20+ different readings, including transmission, engine, speed, mileage, etc. I had mine updated by Silverleaf to their latest software which can scan all the various readouts or you can select 3 that are shown concurrently. I always have the engine and transmission temperature displayed and vary the third display between oil pressure or various other selections. Again I believe it is a VERY worthwhile tool.
