Since I am the third owner, and my coach was put into service in June of 2002, I am out of warranty. However as a goodwill gesture, CC has offered to pay $1500 toward fixing my electrolysis. Thanks CC!
I have the electrolysis on the slide out moldings on my bedroom and living room slides. The worst spot is the aft molding on the LR slide. I priced out the job at National RV in Lakeland, FL and it cost $5600 in labor + materials. National said that they don't actually remove the slides, just move them around a bit. I got to looking at the moldings and I think I can remove them myself. There are about ten screws holding-on the vertical moldings. I was thinking that if I could get the moldings out, I could take them (along with some new moldings) to a paint shop and have them paint the new ones just like the old ones. Then I could install the new ones on the coach. Careful removal would have to be accomplished to avoid chipping the paint on the coach where the molding meets the coach. Of course after all that is said and done, what will prevent the electrolyis from accuring again? I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any experience with this type of job? Any advice is appreciated
