We are looking into different braking systems for our towed vehicle. We picked up a brochure from US Gear on their unified tow brake. It looks interesting and we were wondering if anyone was using it.
Thanks and see everyone in Moultrie

I had the M & G system installed last summer at the FMCA rally and love it.
It works great and is so easy to hook up. The Hollick's use the same system.

We had the US Gear system installed on our Jeep. We towed the Jeep from WA to AZ and it seemed to work fine. It's really easy to hook up, includes a break-away, and is adjustable from the coach driver's seat. We don't have a lot of experience with the system as our Jeep has been in the shop since Jan 10th so we haven't been able to tow it anywhere.

Hi--We are planning on a new truck to pull behind our '01 Intrigue and I am thinking about the M-G system: Do you have the breakaway device also?

We have the M&G system installed on our explorer it has worked great and I know others that have this system and all seems to think highly of this system. It is very easy to install and very easy to hook up with just a air connection.

Yes, also have the break-away. Had the system installed on a 1999 Olds Alero in August in Oregon, then bought a new '05 TrailBlazer in Oct. Not a smart move--had to pay to have it taken out of one and installed in the other.

I am using the US Gear system on my 99 Chevy Tahoe. Has worked great for more than 12,000 miles of towing so far. I installed it myself. I looked at the M&G and I did not care for the design. I like the fact that the US Gear design does not depend on 'dead peddle braking'. The design uses the functionality of the vacuum boost on my Chevy Tahoe by including a vacuum pump.

Thanks to all the replies. What is the M&G system? I know my husband was looking at the Roadmaster one that sits on the floor or possibly the US Gear system. How does the M&G system differ?
Jim,
Will you be at Moultrie? I know Don would love to talk to you and look at the US Gear.

The M&G is installed between the vaccumm booster and the master cylinder. It is a fixed installation and is not removed when not in use. The only hook up needed is a air line between the coach and the toad. I have been using one for over 70,000 miles with no problems.

I also have a M & G system installed and like it very much. I have a Magna and tow a 2002 Jeep Liberty. Easy peasy hookup.

Don & Linda,
I will not be in Moultrie. I am busy trying to get everything ready for our trip to Alaska starting in April. If you are heading south, I am in Jacksonville, Fl. No doubt you will be able to find someone who has the US Gear also.
