Title: Disappointed
Post by: Rosemary on March 04, 2005, 11:17:16 am
Yahoo Message Number: 15328 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/15328)I am hoping that more members will speak up. I am very disappointed that we have some curmudgeons out there who feel a need to make this an unwelcome website for potential buyer who are interested in getting owner's opinions and feedback on their motorhomes. A large part of the "Country Coach experience and lifestyle" is belonging to a group of incredibly talented, successful and extremely charitable and friendly people who are owners. I have met them across the country, at rallies and the reunions. I am always in awe, when I look over the crowd at the wonderful folks I have met and MARVEL at the collective talent and intelligence of those folks. I am humbled by the group. This is not an exclusive club. So get over it. You curmudgeons who do not want to get involved in "playing nice" with potential buyers who are seeking information- JUST DON'T GET INVOLVED. If you want an exclusive club- I humbly suggest you go start your own. However I would appreciate if you would not give the rest of the world the idea that we are unfriendly and unwelcoming. You do a diservice to the rest of us owners who have a warm handshake and an open mind. It is totally unnecessary and says more about you than the group. I will be honest and say I think it is absolutely ridiculous and absurd that this is even a point of discussion on this group. But I know this has come up before and I felt the need to speak up. So just chill out and play nice. What is a "lurker" anyhow? And how do you know they are there??? Sounds a little paranoid-silly to me.
Be concerned about saboteurs like our friends Bob, Pyro and Reese... not honest people seeking advice.

Yahoo Message Number: 15330 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/15330)I'll speak up - guess it found that thread just silly and skipped most of it.
I lurked here for a while before buying and it was a great resource. I could care less if a member owns a CC or not as long as they realize this is a very focused group and their questions were genuine and not trying to provoke some type of controversy.

I have only been a member for about 3 years and read every post. I never remember someone identifying themself as an owner or non owner and not getting a reply to a question that group members have knowledge. If this is a problem could you please cite specific instances to help me?
Just sorry you are so disappointed.............. Steve

Yahoo Message Number: 15342 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/15342)Amen and Amen, Rosemary!! Well said, as usual. The people I've met who are CC owners, not only on this board, but at Camp Country Coach and at the Class Reunion are wonderful and helpful and kind and considerate, for the most part. ;-)

If you read the preceding posts, Karen Oliver came on requesting information. Several members then came on and left posts like the following:
"I think it is presumptious for anyone, who is not a present Country Coach owner to post on this site or request help in making an RV purchase decision. This group is not intended, I don't think, for aiding RV shoppers. There are many other RV groups dedicated to consumer interests that would be of more beneficial to shoppers...I am proud to be the owner of a Country Coach and will continue participation in the group, however, I will not read or answer any posts from non Country Coach owners. " "I'm with Macke on this one! I've been here two plus years and on my second CC and joined for the sharing of information with OWNERS." This caused the following response from a potential future owner who had just come on, identified herself as such :
"Macke-
I am just trying to gain information about CC. I think ALL people should be allowed to join and gain knowledge of the CC, if that is what they want or desire. I do not think there should be division in the list, (ie you only answer people that have a CC) That certainly is your decision.
I think you will miss meeting new people,. like myself. Quite upsetting to feel that you are not wanted on a list because you have not yet purchased one."
I received a personal email from this person expressing just how upset she was at how she was treated. I don't blame her. I know many Country Coach owners and I never knew any that treated people like that. I did not make the statement in my email that "someone did not get a reply to a question." If you read my posts, I was reacting to the rude way some members treated a potential owner coming on and requesting opinions and information. I do not think it was necessary for them to make such comments considering no one requires their comments on any questions asked by owners or visitors. If they don't want to reply to someone- THEY DON'T HAVE TO REPLY.
As several owners have stated- they bought CC's specifically after "lurking" and reading about our experiences with Country Coaches. Who cares anyhow? What is lurking? Owners read these messages and never post a thing... are they lurkers??? And who says they have to participate if they choose not to?
I don't really see the problem with ANYONE reading these posts, or requesting information. WHAT is the big deal??? I have nothing to hide. I also don't see what all the fuss is about if someone asks for information and is not a present owner. I would be much more skeptical of a brand that did not allow people to come on and see what was being said- THEY have something TO hide. Being open benefits all of us in the long run.
What I do not appreciate is people like Karen getting blowback from a few members who are unhappy she coming on OUR website to ask a question about Country Coaches as a potential owner. It reflects on the rest of us in the group who are friendly, generous and forthcoming with their knowledge and expertise. She may not stick around long enough to find out- thanks to some rude members. The fact remains that it is open and other people DO come on to read or listen and there is no point, as things exist NOW, for some members being rude to visitors unless and until there is ill intent on their part. Then-- have at it!
As a member of this group- I just don't appreciate having that rude behavior reflect on me, and from what I gather- neither do some other members, "lurking" out there...
If you want to close the group to all but bonafide owners, then JUST DO IT, but in the meantime, play nice! I hope I made myself clear and I hope other owner/members will speak up about these rude comments.
It was all so unnecessary! It reminds me of dogs marking their territory.
Lurk away whoever you are!
WHO cares???

I went back & reviewed the 8 posts that pertain to Ms Oliver. I still do not see what you are so disappointed about. It appears to me that when she asked a question she was met with respect, answers were offered and follow up offered.
Ms Olivers first post was on 3-2 #15256-She replied to the thread "I started a new group for everyone" in which she stated she did not own a CC but was shopping & hoped people would help her. She received two direct replies-#15265 You advised her you were glad to answer any questions she had & advised her to start a new thread if she had a question. #15267-Hollicks advised her to feel free to ask any question. On 3-3 Ms Oliver started a thread "Researching mhs"-#15291. She asked no question, but thanked the Hollicks for their offer of help. She received four replies. #15292-Hollicks gave advise & offered some experiences. #15294-Ms Oliver advised Hollicks that she would check out Magna. #15300-Ree gave her opinion of CC & gave personal experience with a previously owned Monaco. Offered her assistance. #15317-Ms Oliver told Hollicks she was on the Monaco board & thanked them for info on Inspire.
Please provide the post numbers for the comments that you said were replied directly to Ms Oliver's posts. I do not see them. Were these comments made in another thread not started or about Ms Oliver directly? If someone does not wish to answer posts by someone who is not a CC owner so be it. That is their choice. I certainly do not see anything in the replies directly to Ms Oliver that indicate she is not welcome or was treated rudely. I don't think anyone deserves to be treated rudely. If she asks a question I have some knowledge of I will answer. This is not my board. I knew when I joined that non-members could also join. It doesn't bother me. I remember a while back that someone stated they didn't consider an Inspire is a CC. It was his opinion. Obviously an Inspire is a CC.
