Just finished a great week in New Orleans. We want to thank Egon for his recommendation of Bayou Segnette State Park. What a great place. Large sites, 50 amp service, water and only a short run to the French Quarter and the riverfront. Took I-90 back across Mississippi River, exit at Tchopatulous (spelling could be a little off), head towards the convention center and then to valet parking at Harrah's. The gentleman running the cab line gave us directions back to I-90 (westbank expressway), 3 easy turns. Once we got our bearings, we parked a little closer to the action. Never took us more than 30 minutes, most times less. Best of all, only $6 a nite with Golden Age Passport, otherwise $12. Not a good bet in late spring and summer as mesquitos will eat you alive. So says a local parked next to us. Oncer again, the group comes through.

John, when were you in new Orleans? We were at Bayou Segnette from Monday night Feb. 28th and left march 3rd. As we were leaving there was an Intrigue in one of the higher number spots ( may have been you), we were in #22. That was the first time that we have stayed there, but my comments were made after I checked out their website.
This was a much beter place thatn the parks on Chef Mentour. We were at the Convention center -easy to get to and back out.
To anyone else wanting a place for your coach while in NO this is the place and only $12 a night. I knew that I should have knocked on your door. maybe next time..

Egon.....

We are heading to NO at the end of the month, and would appreciate info on the website. We have stayed at the Mardi Gras Campground on Chef Mentour, and while it's ok, the area leaves a bit to be desired and their prices are getting up there. Any help you might provide would be appreciated.

Thanks.... I was a little behind in reading all the posts, and saw it after I sent the request. Got it! I might also mention that there are some nice little parks and a State Park, too, near Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis on the Mississippi side. A bit of a trip to NO, but really nice, quiet surroundings with great beach access.

Bob, Web address:

We had always stayed at the ones on Chef Mentour, but this time decided to go to Bayou Senette after looking at the web site. Great park and very easy to get to the French Quarter. It does cost you a dollar to go from the west Bank to NO---I guess the NO natives don't want the West Bankers so they charge a dollar. We were there for a business trip and did not get to go to the Quarter-- did not even go walking through the campground. If we had walked the campground we would have run into John. Anyway have a good time.
