We have a Splendide 2000S washer /dryer that is driving me crazy. I understand that that all of these models have an automatic two minute lock on both the washer and dryer cycles. I am having to iron my wrinkle free clothes that were no problem at all with the earlier model Splendide in my 2003 Allure. I called the manufacturer and they said that the machine can't be changed to eliminate the lock. Does everybody else have this same problem? How do you handle it?

Linda, I am having the same problem.....I almost hate this machine because you have to stand there and watch your clothing wrinkle before you can open the door. Maybe if we get a petetion to Splendide or something they could find a fix. What do you think?? Candace

Hi Linda,
Perhaps the manufacturer could tell you why the 2 minute lock? As for work arounds, there are several approaches.
Have you tried cycling the circuit breaker in the CB box which powers the machine?
An added switch in series with the lock solenoid would be a simple addition.

Fred, How would one go about adding a switch in the lock? I just cycled the CB and that didn't help at all. Thanks for your help, Fred. Candace Hollick

We had a 2000 in our former coach but it didn't lock up after the dry cycle...in fact you could open it while it was running. It did have the annoying lockup on the wash cycle, however.
We now have a 6000 model in our Allure which doesn't lockup on the dry cycle either. However, we're not sure where the water goes when it's drying.

I am not familar with this model. However, could the lock be a function of the timer? Why not try manually advancing the timer to the OFF position?

Jim, thanks for the suggestion. Tried that and it does not work. Nothing works, the door stays locked for more than 2 full minutes, most frustrating! Thanks, Candace Affinity 6370

This frustrates me too. I used to stand and watch the clothes wrinkle while the light blinked but decided they wrinkled less if I took them out when still damp and hung them up on a nylon hanger.
A friend with a stationary home says she hangs all her shirts anyway because they last longer. So now I'm trying to adjust my attitude and not complain about the washer every day. It actually washes better than our previous mahine. I find that I can put more clothes in to wash if I'm planning to hang them up rather than dry in the machine. It actually allows me to get more done at one time. I use the over the door hooks and the mouldings to hang shirts all over the coach. They dry in a few hours in AZ. It may not work so well in a more humid climate.

Hi,
After Off mode can you select start of a cycle and cycle the circuit breaker?

Thank you all for your replies to my frustrating Splendide. Candace, you sound just like me. I want to scream. Gloria, your reply made me chuckle. I think I need a better attitude. I have actually hung up my clothes in the attemp to avoid ironing. It works, but it doesn't seem like we should have to do that. Larry, I'll take a look at the Ikea rack. The manufacturer of the washer says that the two minute lock is a safety feature. Duh! Working with the circuit breaker doesn't seem to help. Fred, how can we add a switch to the lock? Linda

My 2000 Intrigue did not come with a Splendide so we just bought one from Camping World. I also have the wrinkle problem. I take the clothes out before they are dry and hang them around until they just air dry. Hope someone has a better solution. I also bought the Downy product that is a spray on and helps with wrinkle problems. It's very hard to find lately. This product seems to help somewhat.

We also have a 2000S. And Geri says, "She's over-drying the clothes." Geri does the laundry in the evening and simply hangs the not-quite-dry things up in the bathroom overnight and they're good to go by morning. Since the washer/dryer doesn't hold much, at least there's not much to hang up.
