We own a 2000 Intrigue and am wondering if anyone has had XM radio installed in their coach. Does it work well and was the installation done without any problem?

We have XM that came factory installed. It is nice to have and wonderful to listen to when traveling. The problem is that when it is in the dash you are very limited as to when you listen to it. It also does not play thru the home theater, only the front speakers. IMHO I think it would be much better to purchase a portable unit with a car adapter (it plays thru your car speakers) and a home adapter and a boom box. That way you could have it in the motor home, the toad, the house and on the picnic table. I was at Costco a couple of weeks ago and they had a box that had everything in it and it was $200.00. I am thinking of doing that and transferring the contract to a portable system. Oh, by the way, we were just noticed that the monthly fee is going up from $9.95 to $12.95. If you pay by the year or years it is a better price. Good Luck, Candace Hollick o5 Affinity #6370

We have had XM in three coaches and could not be without it. Your radio may be XM ready. You would need to buy an antenna and an XM receiver to plug into the back of your current radio. If your current radio doesn't allow for a plug in receiver.. it shouldn't be to difficult to replace your radio with an XM/regular receiver.

It is really nice to drive and never loose a station.

A full 2 thumbs up for XM,

FWIW If you are a NASCAR fan as I am, you might need to know that in 2007, NASCAR races will move from XM to Sirius radio. Believe it is a 10 year contract. Brian France must have wanted more money than XM wanted to part with. ;-) So, if you're a NASCAR fan, you might want to go with an inexpensive setup for XM for the next year and a half and get ready to go whole-hog for the 2007 and on season with a Sirius setup.

Sirius has NPR (National Public Radio) and XM does not. That's the main reason we went with Sirius and not XM.

Yep ... no more station fading away right in the middle of the puzzler on Car Talk.

We have both XM and Sirius. We have used Sirius extensively and XM radio not so much, but they both are pretty cool. I would flip a coin (other than the NPR point).

Another FWIW....found this on one of my NASCAR sites:

"Radio Money Looked At

Pressure is increasing on NASCAR's Brian France to divide up some of that Sirius Radio money among the stock-car tour's teams. Sirius will likely pay NASCAR between $20 million and $25 million a year for exclusive rights to radio coverage of this sport.(Journal Now)"

Yeppers, Brian is gettin' a bucket of cash from Sirius! 8-)
