Hi - I was reading the posts about the slideout awning that had blown off or billowed out. I have a 2002 Allure with double slide. I looked at the awning and there are two metal slides that lock the arms against the slide out and keep the awning part from opening. Of course this does not lock the part of the awning at the motorhome roof to the edge of the slideout. Where is the awning opening? How and where on the awning does the Standley Mfg fix attach?

The awning does not "come" out, it will unwind and you'll have a flopping mess that will then pull the awning out, bending the little guards.

Bruce,

I will try to explain what these wind guards (deflectors) are and how they work. They are and "L" shaped bracket made of stainless steel. You mount them with double sided tape and stainless steel screws up under the awning(s). They are approx. 2" x 2" "L" and you have to measure your awning and call Standley and put in your order. Basically, you will receive 2 deflectors for each awning; one on each side of the pull strap for the awning. When a truck or something passes you it will not allow the wind to go up under the awning and make it billow out. The price is $50.00 per awning (2 pieces) and we put one on the galley slide and one on the bedroom slide. We would not drive a coach without these deflectors because it is cheap insurance against wind damage of the awning.
Please call Greg Standley at 541-689-1063 if you need more explanation.
I hope this is helpful to all of you who have a slide out. When you call Greg you will tell him what model coach you have and the measurements of the awning and he will UPS the deflectors to you.

To all who contributed to this post, I want to thank everyone. I was finally able to understand the problem and your solutions. I appreciate your patience with me as well as your efforts to get me to this point.

I have not experienced the problem in all of the travels I have done. I have been in some very severe winds. On one occasion the truckers were warning fellow 18 wheelers to park their rigs.
I will give this problem some thought for the course of action I will be taking. Again, thanks to all for your help.
