What is the best way to check on the repair history of a used coach.
If you have the coach number will Country Coach give you any info? All advise appreciated.

J or M,
We found them helpful when we purchased our used coach.
BUT what they didn't tell us is they only keep records on their side of the business, not on appliances or engines.
Consequently when we were told by our service advisor that there were no outstanding issues (other then the ones they fixed while we were at JC) he didn't mention that we should check other suppliers for any recalls or service notes. (BTW that guy no longer works at CC).
By luck we went to the Cummins dealer immediately after our JC visit for an oil change and they immediately advised us of a flawed compressor suggested immediate replacement under a recall. It was done immediately and at no cost to us.
If you or anyone one the board are interested in or have recently purchased a used CC it is worth a call or visit to Cummins to determine what they have on record about your particular engine.
Finally, remember all those little registration cards that came with the Coach. If you do not return those, the audio video suppliers, W/D and M/W guys, and others do not know where you are so cannot send you any recall or service bulletins. If the prior owner failed to return them then you will also be out of luck and CC will not be any help at all.
An acquaintance of mine lost his MH (SOB) due to a fire. Cause was determined to be the result of a faulty refrigerator. The warning notice was sent to him but arrived after the event. The insurance company replaced his coach FOC so he was lucky. Watch out for those recall and service bulletins from vendors, they can be a life saver.

David,
Your number is very near mine so just wondering if you would be willing to post all the bulletins you have received on yours.
I only received five on mine:
Cummins: Air Compressor replacement.
CC: Ride Height control valve change (think they changed the way the air system was connected, this was to equalize the weight on the front two wheels.)
CC: Hydronic heater hose connection change.
TRW: Replace tie rods, due to possible cracks. (think the nomenclature was something different than tie rods, but that is the function they served.)
That is the extent of the recall bulletins I have received on coach number 11040.

CC provided build sheets, copies of brochure and status of any known outstanding issues or recalls, but they admit that sometimes they can only determine the status by inspection. As far as recalls here is a link that has recalls for many products. This includes CC, Cummins, Allison etc. We also did Car-Fax on the coach and I'm not sure it is worth the cost.

Ray, I didn't receive any bulletins. This was the problem of being a second owner and an original owner that didn't forward any information.
Cummins alerted me to the compressor problem when I went their shop for service.
I read about dust storm several years ago and put my fan controller on the list for service at a class reunion and they fixed it there. This included replacing a bad sensor on the engine block.
Same with the Hurricane. Had an operating issue and listed that on the service request and they fixed it at the rally.
Ride height, valve location and bad valves were the subject of various notes on the forum. I had the valve location corrected during a factory service visit only because I heard about it from other owners. The failure of some ride height valves due to a design flaw (by the supplier) became an issue of interest when I heard about it at a rally. CC changed two valves for me and checked the ride height at the class reunion two years ago.
Didn't know about the tie rods. I guess this will go on my 2005 service request.
We have been to four rally's. I agree with those who say the cost is rather high but as I get many of my service issues and spare parts there I am satisfied. Plus, where else can you meet such a fine bunch of people from all over?

David,
Thanks for posting those. There was one other issue that I was told to check but mine was not one of the affected units. The PAC brake on some early models around 1999-2000 I think caused too much back pressure and they drilled a large vent hole I believe.

Is it possible with a VIN for a 1986 Wanderlodge to obtain a coach history of service and any additional information to assist in the purchase process? Thank you.
