Title: Tire pressures-AGAIN

I have never been certain that I have the correct pressures in my 12R22.5 Toyo tires. Country Coach, for its own liability protection, advises using the max pressure of 120, no matter what the weight of the axle. I called Toyo for assistance and Len Manny, Customer Service Manager, says Toyo will no longer give advice. He says we must now use the Country Coach recommendations. It seems ridiculous that the "experts" each tells us to rely on someone else.
I am aware of the Toyo pressure chart and have weighed my coach (front- 11,020; drive-15,680; tag-7,940). Using these numbers, the appropriate pressures should be: front-85; drive-70; and tag-70. These pressures do not provide much assurance to me. If others with similar coaches have recommendations, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Good for you, Henry and Ann. I, also use the chart WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN RE-CALLED OR REVOKED BY TOYO. My coach weights also call for 85/70/70 and I used these pressures until recently when so many people seemed to think I was too low. I have upped the pressures to 90/80/80 and still have a superb ride quality.
You have to make the final decision re pressures, but I like the ride the lower ones provide. I have SmartTire and watch temps and pressures and fail to see that the lower pressures are causing any hazardous temps.

Walt,

Can you share what you are seeing (temps and pressures) and what weather you were in ??

I'm still trying to set a baseline to work off.

Henry & Ann,

I too wrestled with tire pressures until recently when a kind membe of this forum gave me some food for thought so I will pass it along. My previous thinking and probably your thinking is along what I will call static lines. The tire pressure charts do not account for potential dynamic situations. What if a dual goes flat---the other dual and the tag will be carrying a much higher load than what you figured when you used the tire pressure charts. What about road conditions that unload a dual and consequently load a tag. Let your mind wander through such scenerios and you may decide to carry a higher pressure. Personally I do not carry the CC recommendation of 120 psi. My pressures are well above the charts for my weight at 105F, 100 dual and tag. I do travel lighter than a lot of folks. Hope this helps.

Henry,

70psi is to low for any coach. Did you weigh your coach with full water, fuel, two people and all your stuff?
