Would be interested in the price anyone paid for an Interstate 8D battey (USRM-8D) recently. Are they cheaper at the FMCA rallys? - I always see their truck buzzing about at the rallies, but never priced them.

Thanks

In April '04, we paid ~$600 for two 8D Interstate cranking batteries and an 8D Interstate deep cycle battery at the Interstate dealer in Tampa, FL.

Dick, I bought an 8D Interstate battery just a few weeks ago from Sam's club for $ 99.95 plus tax.

Say what? FWIW, that ~$600 got us two Interstate 8D HC deep cycle house batteries and one Interstate 8D MHD, 1400 CCA, cranking battery. I guess I should've looked for a local Sam's Club, although I know the Sam's Club near our house doesn't carry them.

Did they install your battery, by the way? Or did you have to man handle that ~130 lb beast yourself? After removing the old beast, that is.

I did some local research here in New Jersey and got prices from $180 to $230. The $180 was from the distributer and specifically for their USRM-8D which is identified as a deep cycle special order for motorhomes. I assume they also have cranking 8D's also. Was the $99 battery from Sam's the USRM-8D deep cycle?

The local SAMS has Champion 8D Cranking batteries for $99.95, but they won't install them so not sure what one would do with that. I think the cranking amps capacity is around 1600 AH. This SAMS doesn't carry any deep cycle 8Ds.

No, Arthur. The 8D I bought at Sams was a cranking battery. I should mention that they did install it for me at no extra charge. They don't carry the deep cycle Interstates, but said they would order them when I'm ready. This probably won't be long as the originals are now over three years old. I've never had them last this long.

Authur,

We always get our batteries replaced at rallies. I believe the last time we did this 4 batteries were $560, 2 house, 2 chassie. Maybe a little more expensive then Wall Mart but worth the convenience.
