Well there I was driving down the road when the speaker above my head decided to drop in on me !!

Seems the speaker bracket broke off at the mounting base. I have posted pictures in the photo section of the bracket I'm trying to find. I have a call into CC. I should hear something from them tomorrow. I was first told they got those brackets from Radio Shack.
Ran over to Radio Shack and they don't have anything like that now.
Anyone had one break and had to replace it ?? If CC can't help anyone have ideas ??

Yep, same one got me while driving last year and it's a real attention getter.

I think the shop just used a Tap and backed the broken screw out and replaced it. I did not watch them fix it but I think it just a screw and probably broke due to stress. You may want to take another off just to verify it is a screw.

Richard,

That was an interesting idea. Never thought about it actually being a screw into that silver piece. However it appears not to be the case.
I'll remove another speaker tomorrow and confirm.
BTW where did you get yours fixed ??

Michael,

I had pulled into a shop up north to have something else looked at and just asked them to fix the mount. I did not look to see what was done but they fixed it and the other item in 30 minutes and did not order any parts. That's why I think it is just a stud of some type and the silver parts screws into it to tighten it against the black base.
