Now I have been in contact about my towing tongue weight issue which has gone back and forth. Last Friday the head of Customer Service at CC said that we could "beef up" the hitch. Well today he called back and said that he could not as they would not certify another type of hitch for this coach.

He explained that the hitch is really only a class III hitch so allowing a 10,000 lb tow capactiy and a 600 lb tongue weight was better than could be expected. I, of course, immediately pointed out that a class III hitch is only rated to 5000 lbs.;however, he maintain this was fine and this hitch would handle 10,000. He obviously sees my point that the hitch is not rated for 10,000 lbs, the hitch could not pull a 10,000 trailer with a minimum 10% tongue weight but he sees nothing wrong with it. Does anyone here see anything wrong with this or is it just me?

The customer service head is now looking into a weight distributing hitch which he feels will allow me to handle up to an effective 1200 lb tongue weight (on a class III hitch) and I asked him to tell me what size bars, etc would yield the proper distribution to handle my coach and trailer. If the correct weight distributing hitch is identified then the class III hitch would then have a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 lbs (actually both class III and IV would be the same in this case).

I have to really honest here, Holland Motorhomes sales claims they did not know there were these towing limitations, Holland Motorhomes Service department sold me the drop hitch ball set up and said it would be fine, then after I found out in the book and the hitch print that it only handled 600 lbs of tongue weight they said they could reinforce the hitch (which BTW CC says will void he warranty if reinforced), and CC says their set up is fine even though you cannot handle 10,000 lbs with a class III hitch.
What is going on in this industry, does everybody just have no clue? Do they simply lie?
What is the deal here?

Heck my Denali can handle 1000 of tongue weight and pull 8000 with a V8....this is really frustrating as I have been mislead more than once here.

Sorry for the rant but your responses will really help....

Yes. It is misleading because you really can't safely tow 10K lbs with the hitch in it's present configuration. This isn't right and I'm sure that CC, being the reputable company they are, cannot live with this anomaly and will find a way to fix it.

I have heard great things abou t Country Coach which is why we purchased one, but I am definitely going to find out here if they are great at service, but so far I am very concerned....I hope they will do something otherwise the legal angle will be painful for everyone, including Holland Motorhomes!
