In addition to my New England question earlier, does anyone have a suggestion about the best park to stay at near New York City? Has anyone stayed at Black Bear Campground in Florida, NY? Thanks.

I have stayed in Black Bear and would not recommend or condem it. A better choice would be KOA-Newburgh in Newburgh, NY. I'm not a big fan of KOA, but in the North-East choices are limited. They have scheduled tours into New York City every day. Thay are rated 5/5 in Woodalls.

Thanks! I appreciate the recommendtation. I was thinking the same thing from what I have seen elsewhere. KOA it is.

I have stayed at the Liberty RV Park and Marina. Not fancy, but you get a view of the Statue of Liberty from Jersey City. Also the subway is a
5-10 minute walk and the water taxi to Manhatten is 200 yards away.

Doug,
Thanks for your reply. I saw this listed, but I wondered how difficult it is to drive to it? What was the location like?
Thanks,

Rosemary,
From what I remember it was not too far from the Interstate. The only down side was a night club about 200 yards from the club that runs on the weekend. I would stay there again.

Besides the TL Directory, we check www.rvparkreviews.com.
Its totally subjective, however, when several ratings/responses are included, can be a clue as well.
We've stayed at BellAire Woods near Savannah and found it "adequate" for our stay. There is a historic canal waterway adjacent which is a source of summertime mosquitoes. They were not a prob for our Oct visit.
There is a Skidaway Island state park listed nearby, however, we have not stayed there. It has more favorable ratings, etc than BellAire BUT abit further from Savannah.
We would agree with Art's comments regarding Newburgh KOA..
We stayed at the Newburgh KOA (Platekill, NY) and found its location and access plus the daily tour bus into NYC for us to be a big convenience. We took the NYC all-day tour the 1st day there. We then rode the bus the following day so we could do our own sight-seeing at Ellis Isle, St.of Liberty, etc. I believe the last bus stopover was (within walking distance) at the Empire State Bldg at 4:00pm where we rejoined the bus. The bus driver was helpful regarding our later route to bypass the NYC traffic.
Another nearby historic site to consider is Westpoint Army Acad. museum.
Also, We found lower fuel prices in New Jersey and Georgia (lower fuel taxes)which would fit into your route at
www.dieselboss.com-service.
We fueled just as we entered NJ and again in Ga to save a few bucks.
We also noticed fuel prices increased the further you go south in Fla.
