Why does the Country Coach Owner's Guide say:
"Do NOT connect the towed vehicles's hydraulic brake system directly to the coach's brake system. We recommend an electric (manual & automatic) or surge-type brake system that does not connect in any way to the motorhome's brake system."

Pati: No doubt they don't want anyone making any alterations or modifications to their braking system. It's a liability issue, or as the Lawyers say CYA (Cover Your Act) I cleaned that up a bit.
There are some good systems out there that require connecting to the air system, but they must be done by someone with experience. (And liability insurance)

P.S. If anyone wants to see what we do, watch ESPN Great Outdoor Games (agility dogs large - Stuart Mah and Qwik) today Wednesday through Friday.

Has anyone had the U.S. Gear Braking system installed on their toad? Has it worked well for you?

Thank you,
Mac

We have the US Gear system on our Jeep. It works well. I must say that I don't notice much difference with the gain set high or low but since the coach weighes 42000 and the toad is only 4500 the toad doesn't push much. I like the fact that I only have to hook up 1 wire and I'm good to go. Nothing to remove from the toad and then reinstall when I want to tow and the brake pedal isn't being subjected to a lot of force to make it work. If I was to do it over I might consider the M&G system but from a hookup and operation point of view I don't see much difference.

Have had the US Gear for 4+ years...works great. Easy to use.
Just had it removed from our '99 Jeep and reinstalled into our 2005 Jeep with no problems.

Hi Jan,

I'm assuming this is the Jan McNeill of the famous "McNeills on Wheels".

Judy and I are in West Yellowstone enjoying some great weather and scenery. We are on our way to the west coast and will start out next production.."The Pacific Northwest by RV".
Where are you guys...working or playing. I'm not sure we told you but we bought a 2006 Inspire and are enjoying it so far. Hope our paths cross some time soon again.
