We just had our jake brake fixed at CC so that we now have all three stages of our brake available. Prior to rewiring the Jake switch we only had 2 cylinder (stage 1) braking. The other thing we had done which made a major difference was that we had CAT reprogram the brake operation from "Coast" to "Latch" mode when the cruise control is on.
Before this, if the cruise was on, the jake would only come on when the service brakes were applied and then go off when the brake pedal was released. Now if the cruise is on, the jake comes on when the service brakes are applied and stays on until the throttle is pressed. Pressing the "Cancel" button will also activate the brake and the "Resume" button will shut the brake off. This change also allows the brake to activiate if the cruise is set and the downhill speed exceeds 5 mph. All in all, I love the new operation. So, the question is, do I now have the normal operation or does CC routinely program the jake to "Coast" mode?
