I changed out the plastic cover on the dump for the water heater with an anode type and have not had any success sealing it properly. I first uses pipe tape which leacked. Then I used so pipe thread sealer which has leaked. Any suggestions? Anything I could be doing wrong here? Thanks for the help.

I had a similar problem about a year ago. I went to a hardware store and purchased a pipe tap of the proper size (1/2" I think). I used the

tap to chase the threads being careful not to go too deep. It worked fine.
