Am in the process of recaulking the roof of our 1995 Intrigue and am wondering about the rubber coat, which is about worn out. The flat part of the roof is inset a little bit, about a fingernail thick, presumably to define the rubber coat area. The adjacent area looks like it was clear-coated. The fiberglass revealed beneath the rubber coat as it is removed along with the old caulk when cleaning with mineral spirits & alcohol appears not to be clear-coated.
Does anyone forsee any problems in the areas where the rubber coat is removed? I.e., does the rubber coat offer any protection to the roof, or was it applied as just a non-slip surface?
