Does anyone have any thoughts on why all of a sudden our weldex rear monitor just quit working? It appears to me that it is not getting power to the monitor. I have so far checked the fuses and they are all good. I have attempted to check to see if the wires are all tight to the back of the monitor but am not able to check this as there is no room just looking under the dash. Next move will be to remove the dash to be able to get to the back of the monitor. Does anyone know if there are any in-line fuses? Once I get the dash off I will attempt to check to see if the wire bundle to the monitor is getting power. Then this will narrow down the next move.

Any thoughts would be appreciated?

Ken:

There is a fuse inside the power supply for the display located in the dash. Unfortunately you'll have to remove the dash. Look for a black box, about 1X1X2", open it up and you should find the fuse. If my memory serves me, it's a 20mm, 2-3 A, 250 V, Bussman glass fuse. These fuses are available at Grainger.

Also check the camera wiring in BR closet and moitor wiring.

Hope this helps.

Maybe your Weldex Monitor is like mine. We bought our Coach new in 2007 from Guaranty RV Ctr. in Oregon. After a relatively short period of use, the Monitor went blank, except for the two lines showing the distance behind the coach (so we still had power). We drove the sixty miles to Guaranty for an appointment for this and a couple of other problems. The image came on just before we reached Guaranty, but they examined the hookups on the Weldex, charged for repair time, and pronounced it fixed. Several months later, it went blank again, we returned to Guaranty and had the same experience. During the last three years, the image would come on and go off, but we didn't take it in for repairs; we just "waited it out." Sometimes it was out for just an hour or two, and sometimes for several days. Finally, last month we took it to Oregon Motor Coach in Eugene, Oregon. They found a bad ground wire back at the camera. So, that made sense; the problem was not with the Monitor. On our sixty-mile drive back home, the Monitor went blank again! Since then, it has come on and gone off for no apparent reason. I note from other postings, that this is not an unusual problem with the Weldex Monitor.

Jim,

I had the same problem with my rear camera monitor on my 2004 Inspire. My fix was to apply a thin layer of sealant around the camera at the rear of the coach. I applied the sealant at the the seam where the camera is put together. That sloved my problem with the Weldex camera and monitor. It appears that moisture was getting into the camera and causing it to short out and cause the monitor to go black. It's worth a try and if it works you can save money.

Thanks,

Ken,

Yes, I have a thought on your Weldex monitor. I have the same monitor on my 05 Inspire, and had the same problem with the monitor not coming on. My Inspire was only 14 months out of the factory when I started having the problems. I found the problem to be in the on/off switch. You could sometimes push the magnetic switch in slowly and it would catch and sometimes not. It was just intermittent.
I called the Weldex factory and they said that they had some issues with the switch, but there was nothing they could do, except sell me a new monitor, since my monitor was more than a year old. They said that they could not make the repairs on my monitor because parts of the unit were sealed.
I bought there monitor for around $400, however I've seen them cheaper on Ebay.

Good luck,
Jim

You do not need to remove the dash, the monitor is held in the bracket with pressure points, just pop it out. then there are 4 screws holding the bracket in the dash, take the bracket out and you will be able to see all of the wires and plugs. What i did with mine to check if the camera or the monitor was bad. I plugged the video wire to my tv and I had a picture from the camera so I new the camera was ok and the monitor was bad. So the easy fix was to buy a new monitor from Weldex but that did not work. I called ASA electronics 887-305-0445 with my problem they said I could install a voyager monitor and still use the Weldex camera. I did that and it has been working fine for the past year. The problem with the voyager monitor is it is bigger and you have to cut a bigger hole but it fits in my 2006 Inspire. I do not think Weldex makes a good monitor, I was very unhappy with their service.

Jim,

Thanks for the info. I will give this a try and if all is as you say will give ASA electronics a shout.

Thanks again.
