Does anyone have a winter home at the Desert Shores Rv Resort in Indio, CA.

We are looking at buying and wondered if anyone had an opinion.

Pro and Cons would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Russ and Jean

We have been at Desert Shores for three years this season. Without a dbout the place exceeds our expectations year after year. The large lots with the "casita" gives more privacy that you will see in any other RV resort. Desert Shores has approximately 2.2 units per acre when the common areas are taken into consideration. That, plus a lake view at EVERY lot makes Desert Shores the most desirable place to have seasonal or permanent residency.

Back to the "casita".... It is a 1200 squarefoot mini-house that includes a fantastic kitchen/living area, a large bathroom, and a room that is commonly refered to as a "bonus" room - which most residents use as a bedroom with a "murphy" style bed that folds up into one of the walls. The space is more than adequate when combined with your coach. Average living space between the two usually exceeds 1500 square feet! We also have a private pool, spa, covered patio, and free trailer parking, a real +++.

The neighborhood is loaded with great neighbors. The neighbors are "there" - but since you park with the front of your coach facing away from the street - "privacy" is also there. The privacy issue is the number 1 thing that sold us on DS several years ago.
It's a great place, we hope to see you there, as neighbors, in the not to distant future.

Hi Russ & Jean,

I don't have a place at Desert Shores but I do have a lot just down the street from there at Outdoor Resorts (the new one). I checked them out before I bought at Outdoor Resorts. My impression was that they were okay but a little pricey. Also, I did not need to have a 1200 foot casita as well as my motorhome; sort of reduntant; which one do you live in. There is another place close by that is similar to Desert Shores and they are called the Vineyards. They have not being too well; they have been having a difficult time selling there lots and I was told that are no longer going to build and sell lots with casitas on them. I was told they are going to turn it into a regular housing development.
Personally, I think Outdoor Resorts is nicer if you don't need a 1200' casita. You can put pools, small casitas, BBQ Islands, etc on your lots; plus, we have a golf course, tennis courts, and a brand new clubhouse that is opening in the next couple of months. Contact me if you want more info.
