Brian,

Mine had intermittent problems on the charging side. If it is not charging and you hit the front of the inverter with your fist (lightly) and it starts working, there is a connector inside which is intermittent. You can open up the inverter clean the connector with some circuit card cleaner stuff, then carefully put it back together making sure that connector is well seated. The connector joins a board on the front cover to a board standing vertical and running the length of the inverter. Try that before buying a new one.

I had the same intermittent charging problem on a recent trip to Alaska. On the way up the ALCAN I discovered that the RJ-11 phone cable connector on the bottom of the Freedom 20 was dirty. It is open to the elements. On my coach I removed the 8 screws holding a metal plate to the bottom side of the shelf and got access to bottom of inverter where the connection is. I removed the connector and flushed it with some spray contact cleaner. I have had no more problems since then.
