Has anyone purchased a WaterKing WK-RV electromagnetic water softner? It was featured in Motor Home Magazine - August issue - page 81.

Does it work??

Hi Bo and Kathy,

Probably not - you need two things for the concept to work: strong magnets and iron and other magnet trace elements in the water. Strong magnets are expensive and require shields and are not being marketed because of the hazard. I did put reasonable strong magnets (~100,000 gauss) on my house water pipe and didn't experience any water quality change. I do have a litmus type paper to check for hardness.

Fred

Thanks for the answer. It sounds like something we will not do.
We have a water softner right now that we had purchased at Camping World, will just keep using that.
