Title: Best route to Junction City from Palm Springs in March?

Would like input as to what the best route might be to Junction City from Palm Springs in March. I've heard that 99 might be better than 5 to Sacramento...anyone have any ideas? Would love some input. (Have a date with CC of March 11.)

Having driven both, I can say it is a toss up. 99 is more senic but is a little rougher. There isn't a lot to see on 5 but the road is nicer. Time wise it about the same. We will be heading to the mother ship mid Feb. as we have a date on the 26th. Hope to get to the coast and catch a winter storm.
