Hi Bob

We never noticed a radiator leak until we were docked here at Camp Buddy Gregg waiting to get a new windshield. Then, discussing our neighbor's radiator, we likewise noticed a suspicious puddle underneath our coach while docked. The verdict after less than 1 hour of diagnosing - we needed a new radiator. The actual "cause" (i.e., location of the leak) will be determined once the radiator has been swapped.
Now get ready to hear to tough news. We were told there would be six week wait to have a new radiator built. This is not a typo; six weeks! However, Country Coach through Paulette really went to bat for us and the radiator company (Radiator Specialists in Sacramento, CA) expedited the construction and ours was (reportedly) shipped last Monday. Today is Friday; it is supposed to arrive today.
Also be aware that we've been told here at BG that a radiator installation is a 1.5 to 2 day job and we cannot stay in the coach the night between the two work days. BG has been incredible to work with. Couldn't be better.
They will put us up in a motel (pet's included natch) the night we must be out of the coach.

So - I hate to give rough news, but from our experience, replacing a radiator can be quite an ordeal. Good luck with yours and drop me a line if I can help.

Tom,

Do you know who Buddy Gregg uses to install the windshield? I am thinking of trying to get a company to come to my RV site in Arlington to have a cracked windshield replaced. Do you know how long it takes to get the new windshield shipped in?

Thanks
Ray

Hi Ray

The person who installs for Buddy Gregg here in Lewisville (suburb of Dallas) is Robert. He isn't employed by BG; he's an independent contractor who does all their windshield work. He is awesome!
This is our third windshield. The first two received atraumatic fractures and the Coach Glass company in Eugene (who I understand supplies windshields to CC for all their lines of coaches) strongly suggested I come to Buddy Gregg to have the front of our coach inspected to see if the cause of the two broken windshields could be determined.
Robert investigated thoroughly, found the probably cause, had Buddy Gregg correct the problem (dash was fitted too tight at the factory and produced stress points on the windshield) and is in the 3 day process of doing a top quality job.

If you can possibly come to have Robert do your work, do so! Tell him I recommended him - but don't come until MY job is finished >.
I'd suggest you contact Robin at Coach Glass. It normally takes about one week to get the ball rolling.

No one ever said this was a carefree lifestyle....... it's just a great one!

We've allowed 3 weeks for the radiator based on a note from CC saying that building and shipping a new radiator takes 7-10 days. If it takes 6 weeks we'll do our month in Camp Verde, AZ and then return to Tucson for the installation. I figured it was an overnight job since that's what it took to do the CAT C13 cooling upgrade. We haven't seen a drop of coolant since Tuesday and the coolant level is fine.

Make sure that you check that the drain valve is completely closed. I was having

a routine inspection done at the FreightLiner Custom Chassis factory in Gaffney, SC

and was told by the *techs* there that my radiator was leaking and needed to be replaced. While waiting for a new radiator to be shipped in, I decided to check things

myself. After tightening the drain valve, the leaking stopped and a subsequant pressure

test verified that the problem was fixed. The look on the faces of the *techs* was
priceless.
