We can't get any hot water from our Hurricane heating system unless we have the furnace running. Anyone have this problem before? thanks

Larry, unless you are connected to elec. power or have the genset running you will have to run the furnace to get hot water; However, you only want the heat control on, not the distribution system. I'm not in my coach so I can't give you the terminology on the switches, but on my coach you turn on the one on the left and leave the one on the right turned off.

We had exactly the same problem with our 2003 Allure. The fix was easy, once we knew what the problem was. Country Coach failed to wire the pump in the Hurricane that circulated the water to the heater. Our local repair tech talked to the factory tech, at length, who finally discovered that this was a common problem. They had to correct the wiring to activate the water pump in the Hurricane, which Country Coach had failed to do. It has worked perfectly ever since!!

Thanks Henry!

I don't think this is my problem because I can see/hear ans feel the pump running. Besides, it worked before, and suddenly just quit.
I'm still troubleshooting.

Thanks Walt!

I have to turn the furnace on with the thermastat to get the hot water to work and it isn't very hot then. Usually, I turn on the remote switch for the "burner" and the hot water switch just below that to the right (above the door)and I would get all the hot water I needed. Now it won't give me any hot water. The Hurricane tech thinks it could be the hot/cold mixing valve. I'm still troubleshooting. Thanks again.

I believe you are doing this wrong. When you enter the coach, look at the panel above the door, in the center is a swith, that is the switch for hot water! You do not have to turn on the furnace, that would be rediculous! Try it and you may like it and don't burn yourself!---

The hurricane must be different from the Aqua Hot! Mine has 3 switches, Diesel, Electric and Engine (pre-heat). I have hot water whether running on electric or diesel without any furnace needs.
On electric, the hot water runs out quick, 1 fast shower, but on diesel, unlimited hot water. Great system. In the winter on electric, bay keeps warm with no need for the furnace to be on.

Did you turn on the hot water heater? Look above the entry door, there is the switch and all you do is turn it on and the Hurricane will come on to heat your water! You furnice is not on unless you have the thermostat on also!

The system worked fine up until a few days ago, then went kaput. No hot water with hot water switch on like it used to do. Now, I happen to notice that I can mysteriously get hot water when I have the furnace on. And the hot water switch is off! When I turn on the HW switch, I eventually get an overheat code (1) and the system shuts down. I only have two switches above the door. One is the HW switch and the other is the Central Heat Control Switch. I need the Cenral Heat Control Switch on and the house thermostat on to get house heat from the diesel heater. When I turn on the HW switch, I get the overheat code and no hot water. Thanks for all the replies.
