Marvin and Audrey, welcome to the group.
I also have a crack in my counter top that I have not had much luck fixing. Could you explain what you did to fix yours?
Thanks,
John

Hi John
Let see now
First I would like to let you know that I think the crack is caused by
Expansion of the wood cabinets in various humidity environments .
Because was larger width when I received the coach from Oregon, after
Having it in Las Vegas NV. For a few week the crack went from 1/32 in down much less
Than 1/64 of an inch.
Ok With that said this is what I did.
If You go to an auto paint store you can get a masking tape made for lacquer, its made
In different widths ( I used !/4 inch ) . It bonds well and will not let anything migrate under
It. At any hobby shop you can find a CA glue ( I used the thin so that it would penetrate
Good.
Then to a graphics art store and get some eletro wax (I think that's the name ) it is
used for master copy publication lay ups and is soft, and melts easy.
Ok now we start ; clean the area and crack using acetone. It will not bother the counter
Top but don't get it on any thing else. NOTE: (I could not get all of the dirt out from
crack because of people rubbing their fingers across the crack but I did get most of it.)
let it dry good and then lay the tape over the center of the crack and stick it down good.
take the wax and and melt over the tape and back from the tape a 1/ 4 to 1/ 2 inch or so
on the counter top. ( I used an heat gun but don't get the counter to hot ). after the wax
hardens the pull the tape off exposing just the crack.
Now wick the CA glue into the crack , not a lot but along the entire crack. Let it dry for
an hour or so and repeat the wicking again . Continue to do this steep until the CA glue has
Completely filled the crack and a bit above the counter surface ( The wax will keep the CA
from migrating. DO NOT USE ANY CURING EXCELERATORS Let the CA cure at
its speed it makes a better bound. Let this set over night!
The next step is to remove the wax and trim the CA glue flush with the counter top.
I used a single edged razor blade on it edge to scrape the wax an glue from the surface.
Be careful to hold the blade at a slight angle to the counter so that it will non dig into the
Counter surface in addition to lifting the blade at the end of a scraping stroke. This will also
prevent blade marks in the counter. When most of the CA is removed, finish with sanding
over the crack with 600 wet dry ( with water) paper on a sanding block. If a shine is required use auto pant polishing compound .
Hope this work for you
