We are leaving Illinois after Christmas and plan to be in the area of Eunice, LA after New Years. We plan on spending about three days in the area to enjoy some Cajun music before we leave for Texas. Does anyone know the conditions in the area as a result of Katrina?
Thank you,
Mac

I live in Lafayette, La. about 35 miles southeast of Eunice. Conditions are back to normal in this area and Eunice should be a great place for the upcoming Mardi Gras season. Make sure you go to "Freds" in Mamou on a Saturday morning. Great cajun music and dancing from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Enjoy Cajun Country!!!

And what would a trip to that area be without a stop at Best Stop Market in Scot. Best sausages I have ever had....to say nothing of the cracklins.

A stop at Bergeron's Meat Market on hwy 415 is worth the stop. I am from Louisiana and have ate at Best Stop and Bergeron's. Bergeron's got em beat. Its located on hwy 415 in Port Allen. He has signs before the exit. Its the exit right before or after the Mississippi River Bridge on I 10 depending if you are heading east or west. About a quarter of mile off of exit. Dont want to sound like an but being from Louisiana I thought I would chime in. Enjoy your travels.
