Has anyone played around with pgrogramming their MX-800 master remote control ???
Does not seem to be programmed very well ... can't control VCR or Sat rcvr channel, plus a few other odd things I can't recall. I don't have the programming cable, but I did download the editing software, and have a copy from CC of the original program. The PC cable is avail for $10.
Before I dig further into this, I thought mabye someone had been thru it already. Takes a certain wierd type of personality (like me) to mess with this stuff, but I thought there might be someone.
Maybe the software on the CD I got is a later version than that in the unit. When i get my cable I will upload and try it.
Thanks ...

I totally reprogrammed our MX-800 since we added a DirecTV RCVR/DVR and replaced the VCR with a DVD Recorder. The programming cable came with our coach and I downloaded the programming software from www.universalremote.com (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Country-Coach-Owners/www.universalremote.com) . The only tricky part was that our DVDR remote wasn't one of the remotes in the Universal Remote database so I had to "teach" the universal the DVDR remote codes and then store them for later use. The hardest part is figuring out how you want the user interface, I must have changed it 20 times before we found one we liked that was reasonably intuitive. I even created some macros that allow one button switching from SAT viewing to DVDR viewing and back, ie switches stereo input, TV input, etc.

I wonder my post appeared twice ... must have hit the 'back' button, and Yahoo took that as another post.
Thanks ... glad to hear its possible/practical.
I just started studing up ... I think there are some cool possiblities, we need one of these at home too.
What do you mean by 'user interface" ??? The way the LCD menu items appear ??? ... or the definition of various macros assigned to the LCD keys ???
Thanks again for the positive response.

By "user interface" I meant how I assigned the keys. Its not only the LCD keys but in our case I wanted the Tivo keys and the Rcvr volume keys on the main page with other features on subsequent pages.

I used to program, B&K's, remote, which is a Mx-800 dedicate for their equipment. Its a lot easier, if you sit down a draw your self a list of which functions you absolutely need as apposed to those would like to have.
If you decide to program a chain of events to give the desired end result.
Try it manually two or three times first. I learned over the years that people bite off more than they can chew let alone digest. Depending on which unit you have you will be fairly happy about its operation, or fit to be tied. The early ones programmed correctly, but the broadcast range and susceptibility to reflective interference made for a very narrow and short range away from the receiver. You may have to reorient the receiver and/or be prepared to move same. The system was never designed to be used in a mobile environment. It will really give you fits if your are located in the path of telemetry equipment, but at least your not effected by florescent lights problems. TWI 2004 In trigue 11731

Our coach has MRF-200 which allows the MX-800 to use RF to the MRF-200 which then issues the IR comnands. It allows the MX-800 to work anywhere in the coach. Another useful website when programming is http://www.remotecentral.com/index.html (http://www.remotecentral.com/index.html). There are forums for discussing programming issues and MXF and MXD files that others have created for the MX-700 and MX-800.

Thanks all for the good info ...
When my cable comes in, I will take a shot. I think I will start from scratch just for the heck of it and simplify as suggested.
Maybe my wife will go near it then.
