Bob Kumsa Mabe you can steer me in the right direction or what ever. The primary fuel filter ( separater ) on our Inspire is an FS 1212. I have a couple FS 1022 filters left from the SOB. Is there a cross reference guide to find out if these can be used. They are the same outside diameter but the 22 is a couple inches longer. Not sure about the gasket dia or the microns. I've checked the Fleet Guard web site, but can't get any info. I could get a couple FS1212's but I like the bigger size of the FS1022's. Any thought's Ned

Hello Ned; I'd make several suggestions... First, you could do the research on the fleetguard web site to see what the detailed specifications are for each product. That will give you a strong clue if they may be compatible. That's how I found out that the FS1242 fuel-water separator had been upgraded to the new Fleetguard Stratapore FS1015 for my coach. I found this on the fleetguard website even before my local Cummins dealer new about it! Now my local Cummins dealer carries both the FS1242 and the newest FS1015 Stratapore. You can read all about the significant improvements in Stratapore on the fleetguard web site too.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that it is really tough to find the product specs on the fleetguard web site, so I'll give you a link to click here: http://www.fleetguard.com/fleet/en/catalog/index.jsp (http://www.fleetguard.com/fleet/en/catalog/index.jsp)
When you get to this page, you can put up to 4 different product numbers in the "Product Details" search box and click GO and it will bring all the specs for those products in one web page so you can easily do the comparison! It will have all the detailed specs including physical sizes and micron filtration spec capability.
Neat stuff, hey!

Lastly, I'd suggest that you might call Fleetguard and talk with a product expert if the web site doesn't give you all you need. They are really excellent and can provide insights that you can't find on the web. That's how I learned about using the ES Extender fluid in my cooling system to extend the life of the ES Compleat cooling without having to do bi-annual cooling system maintenance. ES Extender is superior to the old DCA product additive and really a great enhancement to cooling system maintenance when the ES Compleat product is originally installed. I'm sure that the people at Fleetguard will be able to answer all your questions.

By cross referencing both of these filters on the wixfilters.com site it appears that these filters have a slightly different inner and outer diameter both on the outer casing and the gasket.

Maybe you could trade the filters you have left back in for the one you need. Just a thought.

I recently changed my fuel and separator filters and I had a heck of a time getting one of them off. Whoever installed them did not lubricate the gasket and it felt like it was welded on. I had to put my full 250lbs and all of my strength to get it to move. It bent my heavy duty oil filter wrench I was using and collapsed the outer casing of the filter. I called CC during the process and they said they had no suggestions for help except to keep pulling.

Good luck.

Kevin

Be careful that the electrical connection is compatible as well...I made that mistake. on my 04 Allure I tried/picked up FS1022, should be FS1003.
