I am losing engine coolant and can't find any wet spots. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Larry: One suggestion from this Larry: For two or three years I experienced a coolant loss without any "marking it's spot" like my dog used to do.
Ultimately I found that I had a heater core leak up front. The leak was so small that the coolant would run out onto the underside of the coach and evaporate or be mistaken as condensation from the A/C.
You my want to peek under the front and see if everything appears dry around the housing, including the hoses leading into the AC/Heater housing.
Just a suggestion. Good luck.

Mine wouldn't leak when it was hot or cold just inbetween, founf it while making a short trip to buy fuel . Turned out to be both the upper and lower hose leaking.
The lower had to be replaced the upper clamps tightened, I believe the coach was about 3 years old, with 36,000 mi..TWI 98 Allure, 2004 Intrigue

Larry,
My coach would lose some coolant from time to time. It was a small amount of coolant and that is a sign of loose clamp. Loose clamps usually only leak when the hose is cold. As the hose heats up, it expands and seals itself. My clamp was on a heater hose splice at the back of the coach where the hoses were bundled before running to the front of the coach. I still have a slight lose of coolant when the coach sits in freezing temps. I have tried to tighten the clamps, but I have put as much pressure on the clamps as I feel is safe to do. I just add a small cup of distilled water as needed ocassionally.

Larry,
I had the same problem, mine was fixed by replacing the radiator cap.

Thanks Dave
I crawled all under the coach and looked at the clamps and didn't see any evidence. Maybe I should put a wrench on all of them. Thanks again.

After a long hard run I'd see some coolant dripping from under the coach but could never find the source of the "leak," someone recommended I try replacing the radiator cap. I did that a couple of years ago and my coolant has stayed where it is supposed to since.
The cap is about a 7 lb cap I think, I replaced it with a 14lb cap, at least that is what I remember. I'll double check to see if that is the right number.

This is to Larry Hanson:
My brother in law has a 1998 Country Coach Allure 36' had the same problem with a coolant leak. He found out it was a small coolant leak in the heater core in front of the motorhome. The heater core is completely surrounded with foam. It leaks into the foam so you can't find it. To make a long story short, Country Coach fixed it once, put it in wrong, had to fix it again. Now its okay but its definitely real hard to find the leak. Its way up in front underneath the coach. Give it a try. Good luck. Let me know if you wnat more particulars and I'll see if I can find them for you. Jim
