What kind of mileage has everyone been seeing on CAT C-9? I'm lucky to see 7mpg at 65mph. Has the updates on the engine computer helped that? The people with the 13 seem to do pretty good. Ned

Ned,

I drive at around 62mph and seem to average 7.2 mpg. I hope that improves as the engine breaks in over time.
I'm a little concerned that the air filter is causing to much of a restriction, and is reducing the mileage. I might be wrong, but my air minder always reads around 18 inches, which seems excessive. I notice that the 06 inspire went with a larger air filter and one that can be easily changed.
I think on the 05 inspire, the c9 is just having to suck to hard thru that narrow straw. If someone comes up with a mod. that allows the engine to breathe easier, I think I would be interested.

Jim I have a friend we have traveled with who gets 8.5 with his Islander and it has a 400 ISL Cummins. We have stopped to fill up and he consistantly takes many gals less than our coach. Our 2006 Inspire, 51677, does not move the air filter gage but very little. Sure wish we could pick up the mileage. The 2 engines, ISL & C9 are close to the same size. Would think they should burn almost equal. Ned
