I have the Cummins ISL 370 engine and I'm trying to chase down a Jake Brake problem and want to clean the ECM connector. If I disconnect the electrical cannon plug from the coach to the ECM, will I cause any problems, like erase memory or do any other typ of damage?
Half of my Jake brake system doesn't work. Meaning, the tranmision downshifts to 4th as advertised, but the engine brake part doesen't work. I was playing around back near the engine ECM the other day and touched and jard the ecm connector and the system worked for about 75 miles, then just quit altogether, but the transmission part still works. The red "EXHAUST BRAKE" light does not come on. I have the 2 speed ENGINE BRAKE system, not the typical exhaust brake. I have been playing with this problem for many months. Cummans changed the engine harness with no luck and another cummins dealer recommended changing the cockpit switch. I changed the cockpit switch and the relay with no luck. Any insight is appreciated.

If you are ever in the area of Sacramento we recomend Cummins West. We have had nothing but excellent work done there and they have full hook-ups.

If your coach is still in warranty have Cummins do an complete INSITE read out on your engine. I have this done with every oil change or service. do not know the cost they do it as a favor to me. It will tell you everything that is set up on your engine from the day it was built, miles, hours, fuel used, number of times you used the service brakes per thousand miles, and the last one that i hate because my wife looks for it is the fastest the coach went for the last reset.
