Below is a letter I received via e-mail this morning from the Risk Manager at this facility:
Hi Mr. Gieg,
The management of Beaudry RV Resort was kind enough to forward me your
e-mail expressing concern over security at our facility.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department has an ongoing investigation into the recent burglaries with our full cooperation. An arrest has not been made at this time.
As Corporate Risk Manager, I am reassessing security at the resort and making recommendations for improvement. Towards this end, a security committee - comprised of resort managers, managers from our security company, and myself - has already met. We are in the process of evaluating what security measures will best serve our guests without being overly intrusive or inconvenient. We are making improvements to our perimeter security, improvements to our gate security, and various types of electronic surveillance.
Increased security guard patrols have already been implemented. To make sure that I am covering all bases, I am wondering if you could expand upon your idea for tagging service staff and the coaches they are working on.
A internet rumor is apparently circulating that Beaudry RV has suffered numerous burglaries in the past. I need to strongly emphasize that Beaudry is unaware of any motor home burglaries that have occurred at Beaudry RV Resort since its inception in 2000, aside from the two recent incidents of February 24, 2006. If any have occurred, they have not been reported to Beaudry. I think it is highly unlikely that someone would be victimized by a motor home burglary and not report it to resort staff. Thus, I can assure you that there has NOT been an historic security problem at Beaudry.
Nevertheless, we are taking these recent incidents very seriously.
Although crime cannot be predicted, we are committed to doing everything
reasonable to prevent recurrences in the future.
In closing, thank you for your comments, and we are pleased that you had a great stay previously at Beaudry RV Resort. We hope that you will choose to return to Beaudry RV soon and often. When you do, we are confident that you will enjoy our quality facilities and outstanding restaurant, and will have peace of mind in light of our continued concern for all our guest's security.
Sincerely
Rich Wiersma, Risk Manager

We picked up our 05 Intrigue at Beaudry over a year ago. That would make it late 2004. We were told by other RVers that there had been a few
thefts around the same time period we were there. We even talked to a guard that said a similar thing, so I politely question that fact of only 2 sense 2000.
Maybe it is all hear-say but as the saying goes.. where there is smoke, there is fire.

Here is the post. Do a search for "recent coach burglaries" if you want to see all that was said in this thread. But here are the essentials. This gentleman might not have even mentioned this had someone else not brought the problem up. Who else might we not know about?

This was from a Country Coach owner who was burglarized at Beaudry.

Ann,
We were burglarized on Dec. 4, 2004 in Beaudry RV Resort in Tucson by someone using exactly the same methods you have described. We went to breakfast and were gone between 9:30 and 11:30am. They forced open the sliding window by the driver seat and took the same basic articles you listed.
The only things we can add is an adjacent coach owner told us he previously had seen people in a cream colored car knock at our door a couple of times, when we were gone, prior to the burglary. He assumed they were someone we were having do work.
It is very frustrating because it seems no one can or will do much about this. In our case, the very nice, Tucson police said they have a high number of RV burglaries, that are never solved, so it was better not to dust for prints because of the mess it would make, and Beaudry RV still has wide open access to their park.
We are fulltime, and believe me we have changed our routines, observation, and security methods. Our rigs are very vulnerable to burglary by people who have a method and know what they are doing.
The bottom line is don't leave anything in your coach you are not prepared to lose. My wife still tears up over the personal things she lost.

Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Re: Letter from Beaudry RV in TucsonIt looks like it is a bit more widespread than it seems.
I thought the safe was anchored in, but guess not! I tried to move ours and it felt like something was holding it in, but then I didn't try real hard to knock it out of place for fear I wouldn't be able to get it back in. Gee..I thought that was the idea of having a safe in the coach...a place to put valuables! I'm beginning to feel better about taking our old dog with us this spring. She doesn't have a whole lot of time left, but since the kids moved to an apartment, she'll go with us for her remaining days/weeks/months etc. And she'll bark if someone comes to the door, but if they get in, she'd probably bark until they called her bluff, then she'd be in their lap!

While attending the CC Pre-Rally March 9-12, 2004, I recall hearing about a burglary during that timeframe of a non-CC coach parked near the NW perimeter of Beaudry RV sites. I believe the burglar's entered via the cockpit window?? Can anyone else who attended that Rally recall a similar occurrence and confirm my memory? These RV breakins make's one wonder if the bandits possibly work in the RV arena???

I remember the incident, but I didn't get to see the unit. That was a fun rally.
