Some day soon I'll be changing the engine air filter on my 2003 Intrigue. When I looked at the filter today, it looks like the bar that holds the mud flap blocks the filter from being able to be removed. Also, the mud flap bar seems to be welded into place. Has anyone changed the air filter on a 2003 Intrigue that can comment on their experience? Exactly how did you do it? Did the mud flap bar cause a problem?

Regards,

Bob,

Yes, the mud flap bar is in the way. I had to remove 2 or 4 bolts to get it off, but nothing was welded. After doing this (it's sort of heavy) I just left it off. I personally think the mud flap captures excessive dust and throws it in the engine compartment. Maybe my tow vehicle gets a little dirty, but that happens anyway. After I removed it, the engine area is much easier to work on and maybe cleaner too.
