The first story I heard was the gages are an entertainment center and they were not accurate, so unless you get a lite don't worry about it. Well, when you pay the money for one of these machines, the gages need to work correctlly !!!!! The one thing that makes the trans read high is the sending unit is in the line to the cooler and shows the hotest fluid in the system. Without looking at the book, I think Allison says this line temp can be as high as 260 without problems. But, as you know, it can go higher and I have seen it higher on our coach. I have talked to the Allison service manager, at the dealer, and he knows about the problem, but can not do anything about it because CC has elected to put the sender there. I asked him if he would move the sender for us ( paying him ) he will not touch it. How could my SOB run at 175 all the time. Yes, it would warm up a little if stopped in traffic for a while.
Both trannys are 3000 mh's, but the Inspire has the hydraulic pump on it's side. That unit could or should not make a difference .
Yes, I have informed CC about the engine and trans temp problems. Should b@#$%^ some more.
Thanks for your input Ned 51677

I checked the Allison manual this afternoon and need to make a correction. I thought the max temp was 260 and after reading the manul it is 300. That is max allowed in the line running to the cooler which is where my sending unit is mounted. Also, noted that my Inspire has the 2 inch pan which translates to the smallest fluid capacity transmission. Certainly not what I wanted to see.
